Did you hear Selanne after the game? He said the moment that he started to think they could win the series was when Beauchemin stood up to Iginla in Game 6. For a guy who was a throw-in to the Fedorov trade, he's already meant more to the Ducks than Fedorov will ever mean to Columbus.

Anyway, my condolences Flames fans. The only thing worse than watching your team lose a Game 7 is watching them lose when they didn't bring their "A" game.

I agree with everybody here. Just an awful effort from the Flames tonight. You're not gonna win in the playoffs by simply mailing it in. Did somebody forget to tell them it was game 7?? This definitely stings. Full credit to the Ducks for playing a tough series, though. They deserve it. What hurts even more is knowing that the freakin' Oilers made it further than we did. Ugh. I think I just puked in my mouth.

...and hey, at least we went further than the 'Nucks.

Second round matchups:

Ottawa vs. Buffalo (Sabres in 6)
Carolina vs. New Jersey (Devils in 6)

San Jose vs. Edmonton (Sharks in 7)
Colorado vs. Anaheim (Ducks in 5)

I'm willing to be convinced otherwise with regards to the Oilers series.

Never saw the game but from the sounds of it, i didnt miss much as I was cheering for the flames. I was really looking forward to an Calgary-edmonton series

Me too. That would've been an amazing series. For a couple of games there, it looked like the hockey gods wanted it to happen (when both the Flames and Oilers were up 3-2 in their respective series). But the Flames really shot themselves in the foot tonight with their piss-poor effort. God I'm depressed.

It looked like Calgary called Philly to find out how not to play to get to the next round. And It seemed so quited in the 3rd fan wise. You'd get the horn going but it seemed like the fans already knew and couldn't get to that frenzy to give the Flames that push. Same. Flame/Oilers would have been a great series.

Looking at the list of teams left one thing really sticks out - the goaltenders. Ottawa, Carolina, San Jose, and Anaheim are all playing goalies that started the season (and in the case of Anaheim and Carolina, started the playoffs) as the backup, and Edmonton and Colorado are playing goalies that played themselves off of other teams. That's pretty crazy.

I sat there thinking ok, maybe they'll pull an Oilers and bust out in the 3rd and take the series :? , but ya , I was hoping for an battle of AB, woulda been nice to see....

Flames effort was "pathetic"
I think my local library was louder than that place last night.

I'll stand by them next year, and they gave us something to get excited about this year. And I attended my first playoff game. Thanks Flames!

It too bad the Flames are out, but i can't say i'm surprised. As i said on here all along i thought the Ducks were a better team and would win the series in 7, which they did. It's a tough blow for Flames fans though after being up 3 games to 2. They still have a solid core though to build upon, and a great defense corps. They definitely have to add more offense over the summer though, in particular #1 center to feed Jarome Iginla, and another scoring winger.
Who would of thought the Sharks would be the top seed in the West in the 2nd round. Both conferences are wide open.
