The Leafs really brought it tonight and played a tough, smart game. I believe it could have went any way as both teams had some great scoring chances. How many posts were hit tonight?? Wow.
I am happy with the Sabres effort and thought they played solid for being the second game in as many nights against a team licking their chops to make a statement by knocking off the top team.
To see Campbell, Lydman, Kotalik and Drury come up -3 is disappointing. Hopefully they can improve versus Tampa Bay on Sat.

Well i was very disgruntled with the Rangers through 40 minutes tonight, but i was actually proud of the way they fought back in the 3rd, falling just short. They were trailing 5-0 in the 3rd period, they weren't generating any offense, Kevin Weekes was pulled, it was ugly. Then suddenly they score 4 straight unanswered goals to make it 5-4. The Rangers should of had a PP with 2:30 left in the 3rd too! The Sens player shot the puck, clearly 2 or 3 strides behind his own blueline, over the glass....the refs huddled for a moment and decided that he was in the neutral zone when he shot it. It was a bad missed call, and the Ranges were furious...oh well.
The team is still driving me crazy this season, WAY too inconsistent & streaky...lose 2...win 5...loss 7...win 4...lose 2...
And i want to give props to 2 guys enjoying terrific seasons. Teemu Selanne scored 2 more tonight, and he's following up his great 2005-06 comeback season with an even more impressive 2006-07 season. With his Ducks currently sitting a top of the standings, IMO Selanne should get MVP consideration.
Another guy having a heck of a season is Marc Savard in Boston. I have 3 Bruins on my pool team this year (unfortunately none of which are Savard), so i'm watched the B's quite a bit this year, and i've really been impressed with Savard. He was a great fit in Atlanta of course, but a lot of people didn't think he'd be able to put up the kind of numbers he had the last couple seasons in Atlanta without Ilya Kovalchuk & Marian Hossa...he's on pace right now to shatter his personal bests, with 55 points in 41 games.
Lecavalier/St.Louis are having great years too...now if only they could get Richards going the Bolts would be all set.
Flames 7 Avs 3! And this was with Iginla still out of the lineup. Combine that with the 'Nucks losing to Minnesota, and that puts Calgary back in 1st place in the Northwest with games in hand on everybody in the division. I love it!

Maybe so, but he's also the been the "whiner of the year" a few times.
Usually i don't complain too much about the all-star game rosters, but i don't agree with some of the picks/omissions this year at all!
Marc Savard is having a wonderful season, and i can't believe he won't be playing in the allstar game. Martin Straka is another player i think definitely deserves to be there. Rod Brind'Amour probably too!
Henrik Zetterberg has been playing better the last month, but he hasn't played like an all-star for the majority of this season, far from it. I don't think Rick Nash or Eric Staal are having all-star calibre seasons either. etc.

I really like watching Kaberle play. He's such a smooth skater and stickhandler. The way he breaks out of the defensive zone and sets up plays is amazing. I think he might be the best stickhandler in the league, or right near the top of that list anyway.

defensemen...his +/- is an abysmal -4....that ranks him 198th amongst defensemen, and 563rd overall....those are some sweet numbers! :roll:

Abysmal That's a gem. He ranks 5th in the
NHL in icetime, is 3rd among D in points, but -4 means he's not an all star? Yeah, OK. I guess that means that Souray - with 37 points and a minus 3 is also not an all star eh? And Chara, at - 5, isn't an all star either? Rafalski is -2. Visnovsky is also -2. Gee, lots of all star d-men with "abysmal" +/- ratings. I guess they all suck!
