Some really intelligent people in the NHL decided it was best accomodate NBC this way. Ridiculous. You want to expand your fan base?? Don't have ice hockey games going to mid-June! I'm sure a lot of people in Arizona are gearing up and saving places around the old TV for a mid-summers night hockey match!
i wish the nhl would stop bending over for american tv. i was hoping carolina would win last night just for that reason, potentially 9 days between games for the pens. that would hurt them more than help them i think......sooo GO RED WINGS!!! :lol: i feel so dirty now

It's even worse - they're going to be afternoon games. Just another day in Gary Bettman's NHL. Never mind Arizona, Canadians aren't even going to watch.

I'm hoping the Penguins learned from last year and with some minor adjustments (Guerin,Kunitz,etc) they will win the Cup !!

Let me be clear, the refs are being consistent. I don't think they are against the Pens or anything else like that.....But they are calling a different game than they did throughout these playoffs. How many Power plays were there during the Caps vs Pens series???Plenty, and it was great seeing skilled players playing the game. This finals so far is marred with obstruction, holding, tripping, everything but ass rape is allowed. It changes the game, and not for the better. even the announcers are commenting on the lack of calls. I would rather see Hossa, Malkin, Crosby, Zetterberg, etc making great clean plays. this is sloppy shitty late 90's hockey.
its surreal how many bad breaks & bounces the pens have been dealt through the first 2 games. how can the refs not call that hook on hossa?? :rambo: pens have 2 must win games in pittsburgh
I was quite unhappy last night. Even the horrible commentating on NBC wasn't a match for how angry the the non calls made me, but hey,
Truth be told: The Pens were outplayed in my opinion.
I salute GENO for the leadership he showed last night. However lame the fight (attempted fight) turned out, he showed raw emotion. That will carry over to Pittsburgh. :thumb:
I am always tempted to count how many men Detroit has on the ice at any given moment...man, those guys swarm,
and are at the net like linebackers. The Pens could take a lesson from that.
I hope Fleury has better games here on out...

I have to agree with with you, I was surprised at how much was let go in the first two games as well. I think the refs are too scared to make calls in the finals, they dont want to be the "one" who screws it up for someone. But they needed to take a stand in the first game or two to set the tone for the finals, now its all gone to hell.
just a thought.
