Edmonton definitely outplayed Montreal tonight, but the Habs got the breaks (literally with Markov's stick snapping in OT) and pulled it off. Good thing because the East is tight and they need all the points they can get to hold off some real surging teams. Take them anyway you can get them! :jump

Montreal was all over them in the first, Edmonton came back and played a strong game, but they got some bounces. Two of their goals were lucky bounces, the first one off Pleckanec's leg of Souray's point shut was just back luck Price was handcuffed and that last goal from the scrum in the net was lucky that just barely got over the line.
Either way like you said its two points, and the team showed some fire and determination for a change. I hope a strong late season charge is in the cards.

Rumour has it, Halak wanted to play last Monday, but Carbonneau elected to start Price instead, and when Muller told him about it during the morning skate he was visibly upset about the decision and could be seen waving his hands around pleading his case. Since then, Price has started again, and he didn't look great last night either. I think Halak has earned a chance to be the number one goalie and getting the flu shouldn't be the reason why he lost his job again. I'm afraid they may have damaged Halak's psyche, and he should be the guy getting the starts. You go with who's playing the best and who will give you the best chance to win. I think Gainey might be going with Price because he hand picked him to be the goalie of the future last year, and doesn't want to look bad.

Naw, I don't see Gainey having that much foolish pride. I think he's trying to allow Price to find his game and confidence before he hopefully leads them to a long run in the playoffs. As for Halak, ya I think he's earned the right to play.

That wasn't the dumb part of your post. The part about celebrations and hot dogging and warrior mentality and that crap is what was dumb. That prehistoric view of the game is old and outdated, just like Cherry. Don Cherry has never actually provided any analysis during Coach's Corner. If he analyzed the game, like Howie Meeker did, I might actually give him a little credit. All Cherry does is use Coach's Corner as a platform to spew his dumb caveman ideas to the public, and to brag about his bigotry and racism on national television. Most people try to hide their bigotry and prejudices, but I guess Don thinks it serves a purpose to spread ignorance to the masses. There's not all that much to the game of hockey to begin with. What special knowledge does Don Cherry possess about the game? Please inform me. It's not rocket science. :?

I agree with you regarding the attempts to injure but that is generally kept to a few useless players that can't play the game anyway. As far as the sportsmanship I was referring to it was mostly on the celebration that was being referred to and that fact that the shaking of hands that is done at the end of a playoff round still.

Holy crap, that Flames/Wings game tonight was crazy. The first period featured possibly the worst officiating I've ever seen in an NHL game. HUGE comeback win by the Flames. Woohoo!

Oh man, what an embarrassing game to watch as a Flames fan. Those guys should be ashamed of themselves for losing that game. A few of the media people here in Calgary are saying it was partly because of all their injuries and that they were a tired team at the end of a very long road trip. But I don't buy it. They had a full day's rest after the Detroit game, so they should've been ready to play. When their plane touches down in Calgary I hope Keenan drives the team straight to the rink and bag-skates them till they puke.

I was embarrassed as a Leafs fan for the Flames fans. Everything was going in the net. At both ends of the ice.
But I've come to expect it.

The guy got his 50th goal and it wasnt all that bad, he just pretended his stick was too hot to pick up..meh. Ive seen worse, was it rob ray who rode his stick in buffalo, or what about Fleury sliding all over the ice like a fool in the playoffs against Edmonton?
Getting at least 50 goals three years in a row, he should be allowed to celebrate, I dont think he went too far with this one. I still think his enthusiasm will carry this team far, its infectious. If they had a real goalie Id call them a Cup contender, though they're not far off.
