You mean the letter where he complained about deliberate attempts to injure in a game where his coach sent goons to "run" Spezza and Heatley? That letter?
The results were similar. Two players get injured and miss games. Technically the hits are legal. Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it's right.
I don't know anybody who disagreed with Ruff's response, except that hypocrite Colin Campbell.
As a Sabres fan, I won't miss the Laffs top D-man out of the lineup tonight.

And if there is any fan base that knows hypocritical, it's the Sabres'.
Questionable hit on Drury, baaaaaaaaaad.
Sending goons after other teams star players, gooooooood.

So far as I am aware, neither of the Sens star players were injured in the ruckus that followed Neil's hit on Drury. If Ruff truly wanted payback for an open ice hit that caused Drury to hit his head on the ice, wouldn't you think he'd tell the goon squad to maim the opposing side's best players?

He specifically told them to "run" them, which yeah, could be considered telling them to "maim" them.
And it doesn't matter if they succeeded or not - the issue is
intent.
I'm not a Leafs fan, but I like Kaberle.. and yeah, I think the hit merits a suspension (2-3 games for Janssen and 1-2 games for the officials who missed it). :rambo:
The NHL is conducting a hearing on it this afternoon...
This is pretty interesting - Brian Burke's trade "diary".
Note that Lowe started shopping Ryan Smyth on the 25th (all of the media experts claimed Lowe panicked and only had a chance to talk trade with the Isles, implying he didn't leave himself enough time to work out a better deal with other teams. As per usual it looks like they were wrong, which in my mind validates that they are wrong when claiming the Oil and Smyth were only $100K apart).
Given the way Burke fleeced Maclean in that Fedorov deal, I'm surprised he even answers the phone when Burke calls.
I offer him profanity. If you are offended by profanity, it's difficult to make a trade in the NHL.
NHL suspends Devils' Janssen for hit.

i really like that idea.
Doesn't the NFL do something like that for refs who miss calls?
The first 52 minutes of the Blues/Rangers game today was the most frustrating game I've ever watched. The Blues played text-book defense, and they found a way to get a stick, skate, or leg in front of what seemed like every Rangers shot attempt or offensive zone pass.
Led by Sean Avery (who's been awesome since joining the Rangers a dozen games ago) and Karel Rachunek, the Rangers were able to mount a comeback though, before Marcel Hossa won yet another game in the shootout. 3 points out with 2 games in hand, there's still a chance!
This is the 4th time in 5 games a 2-0 lead has been blown in the 3rd period of a Rangers game. The Rangers had 2-0 leads in 3 of the pervious 4 games, only to have their opponents come back late in the game & win it. Today it was the Blues with a 2-0 lead in the 3rd, and the Rangers came back & won!
There was a very nice ceramony for John Davidson prior to the game, I sure wish he was back with the Rangers organization. It's good to see him get the opp the Blues have given him, and I think he's done a very good job so far. I'm not sure to that white hair of his though!!

Not just intent but also the potential to injure.
Unfortunately, the league tends to punish outcomes.
Intent to injure gets off lightly unless it succeeds. Similarly, high sticks are punished more severely based on whether the victim bleeds, regardless of the fact that any high stick has the same potential to injure.

Geez. Talk about OVERPAYING!

hock: Brewer and his agent got one over on the Blues.
LOL at Jeff O'neill calling Kaberle the best defenseman in the NHL.

If McCabe was your highest paid d-man and you had to watch him game in and game out, you'd think Kaberle was the 2nd coming of Bobby Orr too.
