Sens off to a 5-0-0 start!
The Big Line is looking great, and the whole team is playing with a fire they don't usually show early in the season. Gerber and Elliott have been great in goal while Emery recovers from his wrist injury.

Then again, I'm not a pro scout.

I dont know alot about him, but from the way everyone talks about him and the kind of numbers he's putting up at his age, you have to think he will be a superstar, well just have to wait and see I guess.
Hey, where are all the Sabres fans this year?!?
I am here.
0 and 2 baby!
Sabres fan here! 6-0 over ATL tonight!!

Going to be a tough season, but new players will step up. It won't be a President's Trophy year, but it should be exciting. Any team with a goalie of Miller's caliber will always be a contender.

Go Sabres!

this, in my mind, is still not a big enough punishment. In 2 weeks, 2 seperate bush league incidents with the same team. This asshole should be gone the rest of the year, and the flyers should be fined as well.

And it's the second time this guy has used his stick as a weapon to hit an opposing player in the head.

Once, and you can plead poor judgment. Twice looks like a habit.

The league needs to send a strong message to those who view their sticks as weapons, a message like, perhaps, "you better learn to cook french fries."
It amazes me that the suspensions are getting longer and longer, and the players still aren't getting it, which leads me to believe that suspensions (and nominal fines) simply aren't enough.

I agree. From Ciccarelli in 1988, Mcsorley in 2000, or Simons hack to Hollweg's face last year....these guys just keep doing it over and over again.

25 games isn't enough, and they should hit him with a huge fine too....the only other thing that may get the message across is something like a 2 season ban. Anyway, it gives hockey a bad name, and it takes out quality players (ex: Suter's crosscheck to Kariya's face in '98 )

I don't know if quoting Bob McCown (sp?) from the Fan 590 makes me an idiot or not, but he's constantly been saying lately that acts like Boulerice's, and to some extent Downie's, should be punishable by a complete lifetime ban from the NHL. I'm not sure if I would go that far on a first offense, but I don't think I'd have a problem with it if a guy is a repeat offender. And Boulerice has a history of vicious attacks (albeit this is the first one I can recall within the NHL itself).

Frankly I wouldn't have minded at all if Colin Campbell announced he'd suspended Boulerice for life, in fact I probably would have applauded it. Despite what people say about trying to imitate last year's Cup winners, the Ducks, by getting tougher, guys like Boulerice are a dying breed in the NHL, and the league will be all the better for it.
So, let's see if I can understand the Leafs season so far...

1. Play reasonably well the first two games against Ottawa, and get an OTL and an L.
2. Look bad falling behind Montreal, then coming from behind for a stirring win against those damn Habs.
3. Get waxed by Carolina 7-1.
4. Come back to whack the Islanders 8-1.

Which means I have absolutely no idea what the hell they will do next time out.

Oh yeah... could be another stressful year of following my Leafs. I still think they are playoff material, and once in who knows... but they might give me a freakin' heart attack just getting there! Oh well, when you're a Leafs fan for life, nothing you can do except say...

GO LEAFS GO!!!! :thumb:

  I don't think so, I listen to his show everyday and I agree with most of what he says. 25 games might not be enough but its better than the 4 games that Suter got. That was probably the most vicious thing I've ever seen in hockey, worse than Bertuzzi, McSorley, Downie and Simon. At least the NHL has cracked down a little bit since then, 4 games was an absolute joke.

I agree, Bobcat's show is thoroughly entertaining...I'm looking forward to his new book, it comes out in a few weeks I think. It's called "The 100 greatest hockey arguments" or something like that.
I was at the Blues/Aves game last night and I was very encouraged. The Blues have been pushing hard this year to get fans back and there are quite a few promotional sales and what not to bring them back. They've played well their first few games and have sold out their first two home games.

Despite a lacklustre performance in the second, the Blues looked very good last night and had an excellent third period. If only NHL Centre Ice Online wasn't so damned expensive, I could watch my beloved Leafs every game.

It's just the parity of the NHL. Hell, Chicago has been beating Detroit this season!

The Leafs played the Sens very well - and they could have just as easily won either (or both games). And while the Expert Toronto Sports Media wanted to write off the Leafs after those two losses, the Sens went on to win another three straight - reinforcing that they are the class of the East.

The Montreal game wasn't great, but the Leafs showed some character coming back and winning.

They simply didn't show up against Carolina, which can happen over the course of an 82 game season. I got razzed good and hard by the Canuck fans at the company I work at (where 90% of the employees are in Vancouver), but karma came back and bit them in the ass that night when the 'nucks got manhandled by the Flyers.

It's gonna be a topsy-turvy season for sure. That's good news for Damien Cox and Steve Simmons because it means they can write about 60 articles each about how bad the Leafs are, blah blah blah.
