I think they'll split in Vanouver too. Then probably go down 4-2. I love my Canucks, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were too tired to win 3 more games.
tragicallymike Wrote:ryan93 Wrote:Jagr really stepped up his play from the first 2 games of the series & was awesome. Both Lundqvist & Miller were sensational too...even though Miller almost lost it for the Sabres 3 times in OT as a direct result of his puckhandling
Jagr was ok today. The big alligator tears he shed after taking his 3rd lazy penalty of the game were priceless.
The Sabres had six straight PP's at one point in the game. The boys in stripes did everything in their power to get the Sabres back in the game. It was beyond ridiculous. The Sabres were diving all over the ice.
Hockey is really bad now. Almost everyone dives. The Sabres are the worst offenders but not the only ones. Watching the Vancouver series, I've seen Luongo, Selanne, Sedin sisters, Niedermeyer, Burrows, Kunitz all dive at one point or another.

cratch:
One of the biggest reasons why I can't stand the Sabres is their diving. It has literally gotten to the point that when the Sabres feel like having a powerplay, it's done. They go out, fall down and go on the PP.
As for Luongo, he's gotta play better than that for the Canucks to have a chance at winning the series. The first Anaheim goal was 100% his fault and the winning goal was a weak one.
The Canucks showed that they are right in it and have a chance to win the series if they get some lucky bounces. However, one thing is pointing towards Anaheim winning. What is the thing everyone was saying was Vancouver's chance? What was scaring other teams about playing Vancouver? It was one thing and one thing only- the thought that Luongo could steal a series against a superior team if he was on. Luongo has played very well so far in the playoffs, don't get me wrong. The thing is, Luongo, as well as he has played, HAS NOT outplayed his opposing goaltender. Turco matched him in the first series, which the Canucks won anyway, and Giguere is at least matching him so far in the Anaheim series. The prevailing thought was that Vancouver's superior goaltending to almost every other team could be the thing to get the Canucks in the win column. Luongo has been matched so far in the playoffs by his foes, which makes it even more unlikely that Vancouver can advance in the playoffs, because most would agree the talent level on the Canucks is among the lowest in the playoffs. I mean, they're relying on Jeff Cowan to score game winners.

hock: Having said all of that, like I said, even without Luongo outplaying the opposing goalie, the Canucks still have a chance if they get a few lucky bounces here and there.
tiger, I can't believe anything negative about luongo dares come out of your mouth...we're usually on the same side, but it's humorous to hear you talk about him..he's the reason we're in the playoffs..he's making tough save after tough save...the nucks get no traffic in front of goalies..that 3rd goal last night, luongo has NO chance to save..he can't see the friggin puck!!!! This is why Nuck fans have a bad rep...there is NO way that luongo is to blame for anything except that really shitty giveaway last night....but don't you think after all his unreal play he's allowed a little "get out of jail free" card???

....though i hope they prove me wrong.
they lose a close one goal game and they're done???? wow..don't get hurt jumpin off that bandwagon

hey i'm the king of bandwagons! i wanted pittsburgh to win their series now i want ottawa to represent the east. as for the west i've been cheering for the canucks and sharks. i just think the canucks are too tired to get past the ducks, but i'm still cheering for them.

Oh, give me a break man. :? I didn't say Luongo stunk. He's the best goalie the Canucks have ever had. I didn't say he wasn't the reason the team was in the playoffs. I didn't say he wasn't making tough saves. You're just being too sensitive. The reason Canucks fans get a bad rep (if anyone actually cares about fans and if they even have a rep) is probably the opposite- they are too much like homers. Naslund deserves waaaaaaay more criticism than he recieves and so do the Sedin sisters (yes, they are sisters again) for their pathetic playoff display. Naslund didn't show up in the regular season or the playoffs, other than a few goals. If anything, fans are way too lenient on players. I love having Luongo in Vancouver. I wouldn't trade him for any other goalie in the league. However, he's not God. He's not perfect. I don't expect him to be perfect every game but I expect that I should be able to make comments about his play when he's not making every save. He blew it last night. His team could have helped him out more, sure, but the Canucks need Luongo to be almost perfect every game. Luongo IS THE TEAM. I'm fully aware of that. He is entitled to make mistakes. You're reading way too much into my comments. Anything that's not stating "Luongo is GOD" is construed as me being negative. Luongo was at fault for the first goal and IMO the third goal was weak. Luongo should have been able to see it because it was a weak screening attempt by Kunitz and Luongo should have made the save. Hey, if you want me to pick at Luongo for everything, I could mention the incredible luck he has gotten. He let a weak Ribeiro shot go by him and was saved by Mitchell, he let a weak Perry shot get by him in game 2 only to be saved by the post.
Look, Luongo has been great. I don't think anything I've said about his play has been inaccurate. Turco matched his play and Giguere has matched his play. I think my previous post was more negative about his teammates than anything. They probably can't win if Luongo isn't sharper. That is more of a reflection on how poor the team is that Luongo has to bail them out all the time.
If I was to play the blame game, my list in order would be:
Naslund
Sedin sisters
Sopel
Morrison
As far as people who have performed well:
Luongo
Mitchell
Kraijeck
Cowan (his energy would be almost enough but he has scored too)
agree with you tiger on Naslund, and especially Morrison, although I think most Nuck fans have made it clear how they feel about nazzy...if he doesn't know how pissed fans are at him, he's living without any media...the sedins are doing all they can, but when that's the only line that had been producing, it's pretty easy to throw the top checkers on that line only...others have to pick it up, and not just Cowan and Linden..Sopel played a really good game 2 i thought, but could have done more last night for sure...I still stand by my thoughts on Luongo having no chance on the winning goal last night though

Cool. You live in BC so maybe I was a little rash. From what I read on the internet and see on tv, it seems like Naslund isn't criticized too much but I don't live in BC so if you get the sense that the fans are on him, I believe you. Top players are able to play against the top checkers and still produce. I was hoping the Sedins would emerge as top players. They are good players to me, but I was hoping they could take the next step.
Trust me, I'm pulling for the Canucks as much as any fan. Maybe that's why I'm so hard on the team. It'd be nice if Bieksa came back. :rambo:
wow, ottawa is really getting fucked in the ass by the refs this series eh? i think that was an early whistle and the goal should have counted.... and how ironic that they couldn't beat the buzzer on that second chance they had at the end of the first.

Hey, if it works...why not?
If the league is going to continue to call the penalties, what they are doing is smart. Why not take a shot at going a man up? If only the PP could capitalize a bit more on their opportunities, it would pay off.
I don't see them diving more than any other team. There are additional penalties (fines and suspensions) in place for those actually guilty of it. If the league saw a dive, they would act on it.
Notice how Jagr fell down on his own when Stafford rubbed him slightly. Isn't he one of the strongest skaters in the world?
A lot of people can't stand the Sabres because their fans are obnoxious
Big Game 4 tomorrow...going to be another battle...looking forward to it!
Jagr doesn't dive...and i don't even know where to begin, i can not stand diving.
Too bad the Devils couldn't give Brodeur some goal support tonight, he played a hell of a game, and the Sens only got one past him by taking his feet out first.
ryan93 Wrote:Jagr doesn't dive...and i don't even know where to begin, i can not stand diving.
So how do you explain Jagr acting like he got shot when Stafford didnt even touch him?
I don't think tiger even saw a single sabres game this season.
