Leafs Lament (Set to the tune of "38 Years Old")
25 men broke loose from the ACC
Went on a quest for Lord Stanley
Mats picture lined up across the front page
Still the Leafs are hurt by Quinn and old age
Don Cherry told the people there's nothing to fear
But if you wanna back a winner: “best not hang around here”
They mostly came from town's with long Swedish names
But all two dozen were Hog-Town shames
Same pattern on the jersey No cups on the wall
Stanley's seat been empty 38 years and all
Freezin' slow time away from the top
38 long years, never kissed the Cup
We were sitting round the table, heard the telephone ring
Said: “They re-signed Domi, they don’t know anything”
Felt a tap on the shoulder, it’s time to hit the ice
“Next year is our year” always seems to suffice
See the Leafs just take: Old men, no skill
Local boys go elsewhere Till they’re over the hill
Folks went back to normal after ‘93
As close as they ever came to Lord Stanley
Leafs Nation cried “the horror” when they saw the sched
“So many games ‘gainst Ottawa, we’ll end up dead”
Over shoulder, they’re loud yet secretly fret
Despite their boasting they haven’t won yet
Same pattern on the jersey No cups on the wall
Stanley's seat been empty 38 years and all
Freezin' slow time away from the top
38 long years, never kissed the Cup

Dame you're a genius!
Thats pretty funny.

If stephen wrote this, it just reconfirms that he he has way too much time on his hands.
Good job though
And once again, the Flames sh*t the bed late in the game and blow a 2-goal lead with 4 minutes remaining. That makes 3 straight games where they've collapsed in the 3rd period. These guys better figure out how to win games....and soon. I can only hope that their upcoming homestand will give them some sort of jump. Those back-to-back games against the 'Nucks aren't gonna be easy.
F**k am I ever frustrated. On the bright side, at least we didn't get spanked 8-0.

Nah. I think he has a lot of these in the can. Generally his Aprils are free once the Sens get bounced by the Leafs, so he does a lot of these clever little things to pass the time, and then he saves them for the following regular season when the games mean so much.
Forsberg and the boys show the Sens who is boss!

This may sound ridiculous, but sometimes I think I'd rather have my team get whipped than to lose the type of game the Flame-outs have been losing. I can forget an 8-0 spanking ever happened (as long as it doesn't happen all the time, 'cause then I'd start throwing things). But games where your favourite team has the lead late then blows it, those are the games that haunt you and eat at your insides.

A loss is a loss, but yeah, if my favourite team was struggling to put wins on the board and choked up a 2 goal lead with five minutes to play, I'd kind of wonder about the character of my team. Those are games you have to close out, particularly when you are playing against the other team's third string goalie. I'm not worried about the Leafs pitching a stinker every now and again, but I think the Flames are becoming dangerously close to being known as the Calgary Hurricanes.
