It is when the league's "premier offensive team" carries a lead into the third and promptly gets outshot 15-5 over the next 25 minutes.... including getting outshot 11-2 in the third.

Yeah, it couldn't be a function of protecting the lead. Because NHL teams with a 1-0 lead going into the third on the road never try to do that.
They didn't do a very good job of that, either, did they cferneyh?
Especially in the third.
Sabres are rollin' and Forsberg is back with a bang for the Flyers...the NHL is great right now!

By the way, I hate the Flyers, just a big Forsberg fan.

Go Sabres!!

Uh, the point wasn't whether or not they did a good job protecting the lead. The point was that that was what they were clearly doing. Nice try though. :thumb:

Look, I'm not a Sens fan. But when you say fatigue didn't impact the game, well, you are simply wrong. Particularly when the Flames' coach himself states that taking advantage of their fatigue was part of the game plan. If you want to deny it, be my guest.
I don't buy fatigue as an excuse. These guys are professional athletes with VO2 max scores well over 60 (which is really f'n high btw) and to play 2 nights back to back is not unheard of...fatigue is simply a lameduck excuse and an insult to the players to hear that was the reason they were beaten.

Goulet!!!
That's what I'm sayin, Goulet.... , but I'll buy the fatigue excuse when a team has played 4 games in 5 nights on the road... what I won't buy is the fatigue excuse when a team plays back-to-back nights after having a week off. It's not like we're talking about 50-year old men in a beer league.

I love it when NHLers use the travel excuse...I played in the minors and rode greyhound buses for 10, 14, and up to 24 hours straight while playing 3 in 3 nights...it must be tough in those private jets with lounging leather recliners, catered food and having to carry no equipment at all. Not bitter here, I just laugh when I hear that...they should all spend 1 week in the minors and they'd never use the travel excuse again. :thumb:
i forgot to add this the last few games but.........Sabres WIN again........thats 27 out of a possible 30 points in their last 15 games. Yeah you read it right...27 out of 30.

Any chance of them trading Biron to the Canucks? Big Grin
lol, personally, i like Alex Auld, watching him him in Manitoba last year, i thought he was superb, and i think he can fill Clouthier's shoes n/p, but Vancouver needs a better goalie than Clouthier regardless of how Auld plays.
What's up with the French channel not showing the Habs game tonite? Confusedcratch: Some stupid movie is on instead, what gives?

:x Its not my nite.
looks like gretzky is no longer coach..i wonder what's gonna happen with his team canada role?

HL-Gretzky-Resigns, Urgent

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Wayne Gretzky put his coaching career on hold with the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday night, citing family reasons in a team release.
Gretzky's mother Phyllis is battling cancer and he is travelling to Ontario to be with her.
Assistant coach Rick Tocchet took over for Gretzky, who became the team's coach before the season.
"We respect and support Wayne's decision," said Coyotes general manager Michael Barnett. "Family has always come first to the Gretzky's, as it should.
"The thoughts and prayers of the Phoenix Coyotes organization, and most surely, those of the entire hockey world, are with Wayne and the Gretzky family at this most difficult time."
Gretzky has led the Coyotes to a 16-14-2 record in the Western Conference. The Coyotes are tied for third place in the Pacific Division.

Is there any chance the Leafs can call uncle on the rest of regular season games against the Sens? Ouchies.

Ouch indeed, looks like Ottawa has Toronto's number again this year.

I hope it goes well for Wayne's mom, she must be near her end for him to quit like that, that's too bad. And Mario is still having heart troubles, I have a feeling his time might be up soon, could be trouble ahead in Pittsburgh.
