beauty comeback by the pens tonight and say hello to your new scoring leader mr. malkin
Wow i'm speechless, what a comeback by the Habs, incredible!

And to think, i was planning on going to this game. I fully intended to make the trip to Montreal this winter to see a Rangers game, and this is the one i had the tripped planned around, but then decided to hold off at the last minute & head back to NYC next winter to catch a couple games at MSG instead. This would of been some game to see live at the Bell Centre.
6-5 in the shootout, what a game!! The Rangers deserve the point, but from the 3rd period to the shootout it was all Habs, they were playing like it was a game 7, I need to catch my breath...

WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
now i wish it would've been on tv lol! Sportscentre in a few minutes!
This is where I eat my words.

And they're delicious....

That is exactly why I will never respect Ovechkin, his celebrations are absolutely ridiculous. Whenever he scores, could be in the first period or the goal to make it 8-0, he acts like he just scored the overtime winner in the stanley cup finals.

I suppose you just look the other way at Crosby's smug celebrations. I suppose when Crosby scored in the outdoor game in the shootout, his celebration was warranted.

BTW, Ovechkin doesn't have a big celebration if he scores and his team is down 8-0 or up 8-0. You're just plain hating on the guy for personal reasons. Did you have Crosby in your hockey pool and are bitter?

Crosby may over celebrate sometimes but not to the same degree as Ovechkin. I don't think his celebration in the shootout was over the top, that was a game winning goal. Don't get me wrong I'll be the first to admit Ovechkin is one of the top 3 players in the world, maybe the best right now, I just don't like him jumping around and pumping his fist after every single goal he scores.
For you hockey junkies out there who love to play with stats (OK, maybe that's just me), check this site out: http://www.thehockeycube.com/index.shtml

Here's a "huh? REALLY?" for you:

With McCabe in the lineup, the Leafs have captured 38 of a possible 68 points available to them, or 56%. Without him in the lineup, they've captured 21 of 54 possible points (39%).

Who knew!?!
Yeah, I had noted that their really poor period coincided with his injury.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs.

Also an indication that sports statistics are misleading.

In some cases, absolutely. But tough to argue with this, especially when you take the last three seasons into account:

With McCabe: 214 of 376 points (57%)
Without McCabe: 26 of 74 points (35%)

That's a pretty significant difference. I think it goes to show that the things he does wrong sure get noticed (and with good reason). But he's obviously doing a lot right, which doesn't get the same publicity.

Of course it also says a lot about the Leafs in general when the presence of Bryan McCabe is the difference between them being a playoff team vs. not being a playoff team. Yikes.
na na na na..... Big Grin that was a fun game to watch

True, perhaps, but also a telling sign of the Leafs defensive mediocrity of late.

Re the validity of sports statistics, any analysis of points gained sans McCabe vs. points gained with McCabe is meaningless unless we also look at who else was missing, what the schedule looked like, etc. 37 games sans McCabe is a small enough number that I'd be inclined to look at what else was happening before drawing firm conclusions -- although as I said, there is no doubt that his absence this year coincided with their worst games.
