At least the Leafs had the good sense to cut bait with Domi (and it is pretty sad to think that Trevor Linden was as equally "productive" as Domi last season), despite the fact that Domi is just as popular with most Leafs fans as Linden is with 'nuck fans.
i feel so old, eric desjardins retires, i remember when he was a rookie!

i think linden comes back with a way better year this time, and it'll be nice for him to have a proper good-bye to the fans..anyways, with the salary cap the way it is, i'd rather have him on my team than some guy that's just gonna show up for a year and then leave...
That's my point though - in the salary cap era, why would you waste ANY money on a guy who you know can't produce. And I don't see how it is you could possibly think he's going to be "way" better this year (other than wishful thinking). His last three years:
41 pts
36 pts
16 pts
See a trend?
Anyway, no point in me kicking a dead linden. We've been down this road enough to know that we simply can only to agree to disagree. :thumb:

I think they're gonna keep him because there is still something to be said about loyalty, intensity, perseverance and LEADERSHIP. Linden may not put up the same numbers he used to, but he's got a big voice in the locker room.
Interesting twist in Malkin story
Quote:According to Reuters, the Russian news agency Itar-Tass is reporting that Malkin has left his Russian club Metallurg Magnitogorsk during training camp in Finland.
Malkin, who was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins second overall in 2004 behind Alexander Ovechkin, reportedly disappeared, taking his belongings and passport with him. Earlier this week, the Russian star reworked his two-year contract with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and agreed to a new one-year deal.
Malkin has made no secret of his wishes to play with the Penguins in the National Hockey League. But the Russian Ice Hockey Federation has yet to sign a transfer deal with the NHL and Malkin has found himself in the middle of the impasse.
The previous transfer agreement would have seen Metallurg Magnitogorsk receive just $200,000 in exchange for Malkin.

Yeah Lance, I saw that today. What a draw that would be for the Penguins. Two young phenoms playing together. The man certainly knows how to make things interesting (on AND off the ice apparently).

Oh yeah. The Nucks had great team "leadership" and "chemistry" last season. In fact, this led them to have the great, successful season they had. Oh wait, they missed the playoffs.

Yep, and he's still overpayed. Buffalo did the right thing walking away from him. $2.9 million 1 year deal? Garbage!

with malkin inked, my centre ice package is a done deal....hopefully we should climb up from the cellar
Two immature prima donnas on one team will not bode well for the Pens this year. This tandem will be a force in coming seasons, though.
My two cents.
