Flames win again.
Canucks lose.
Oilers lose.
Calgary now leads the Northwest by 9 points with 3 games in hand on Vancouver.
All is well with the universe.

Things are going splendidly now. Wait until Bertuzzi brings the team down.....it'll happen....eventually...... :rambo:

I never thought I'd ever hear myself says this, but Bertuzzi has been one of our best players of late and I certainly didn't expect him to have 31 points already. Sure he's a minus 10 and I tend to throw things at the TV in anger everytime he executes one of his patented fancy back-passes to nobody, but so far his positives have far outweighed the negatives. He's missed the last three games due to injury, and I'm actually hoping he comes back soon. We could use him on the power play.
In the Rangers/Hawks game last night, the Hawks managed to have 5 different 5-on-3 powerplays, including 3 in the 2nd period alone!! Only one of the 5 were what you'd consider short PP's too, they had well over 8 minutes of full 5-on-3 playing time...thankfully Henrik Lundqvist was able to shut the door on 4 of the 5, as the Rangers came away with a 3-2 win, their 3rd straight road win (hopefully they can make it 4 tomorrow afternoon in Pittsburgh, whom they've owned so far this season).

God i can't stand Fred MacDonald, who has a weekly sports segament on PEI's 6 o'clock CBC news (Compass), and also contributes the column Fiddler's Facts regularly to The Guardian newspaper. I love his gem from today's paper, suggesting the Canadiens need to bring in Vincent Lecavalier "no matter what the cost" Big Grin

And finally i see the Oilers traded Garon to the Pens today, maybe i'll get to see him tomorrow afternoon when they face the Rangers.
Its the end of the third in the allstar game.....
and did Jim Hughson just say something like...

The World's Greatest Shitty Game on air? Or did he say something else?
that would be shinny
Well if he did say shitty to describe the All-Star game, I think he'd be right too

I thought this year's game was great and highly entertaining. When you watch an all star game you know what you're going to see, not much defense and a lot of goals. The fact that it was so close made it really exciting at the end, especially in overtime when all of the players started skating extra hard and back checking.

Also, I thought Price was trying harder than the other goalies which was nice to see, only giving up 2 goals, and Kovalev getting 2 beautiful breakaway goals, the shootout winner and the MVP in front of the Habs faithful was great to see.

Overall I was highly impressed by the game.
I'm proud to say that I missed every second of every NHL activity this past weekend. :jump

On a high note, I got to watch a phenomenal performance by 37 year old Shane Mosley as he destroyed a guy was a huge favourite over him in the betting odds, got to see Fedor KTFO Arlovski in the Affliction main event, and just watched a heck of a fight between Varner/Cerrone in the WEC main event. Great weekend for sports other than hockey! :jump :jump

LET THE FLAMING BEGIN!! :rambo:

haha I saw the Arlovski fight, and my question is, why would Arlovski even be allowed to fight Fedor? Arlovski lost twice to Tim Sylvia, and had to quietly leave the UFC in disgrace, and Fedor is probably the best heavyweight in the world, it seemed like an odd match-up to me.

As for the NHL allstar game, its everything you complain that the game isn't anymore, no goons, no payed fighters, just skill and talent on display.

For starters, AA was ranked in the top 5 at HW in the world. Thus, he deserved the match. The Sylvia losses are embarrassing, but he had been on a winning streak before the Fedor fight and looked good in dismantling Rothwell (a top 12 HW) and Nelson (top 15 HW). AA didn't leave the UFC in disgrace at all. Dana White is just an ass. Besides, the UFC is NOT THE BE ALL AND END ALL, like so many fans believe. Half of the top 10 HW fighters aren't even in the UFC, and despite Dana's consistent bashing of Fedor, deep down Dana knows the real deal. Dana knows that Fedor would have crushed Couture had they fought. Fedor is the best MMA fighter in the world. There's no question about that. UFC fanboys think Anderson Silva is,but they're just clueless f*cks.

Skill and talent can't be properly measured when there is no resistance. In other words, it's easy to look skillful when nobody is defending you. As for your comment, I don't know why you say that. My biggest problem is that way too many penalties are being called and that you can't clear the crease like you should be able to these days without getting a penalty. That has nothing to do with goons or fighters.

And it was the SECOND SUCH BLOWOUT THIS YEAR ARGH! Buffalo isn't even that great, and they were missing THREE DEFENSEMEN. WHAT THE HELL OILERS?! We had a nice winning streak going before the stupid All-Star break, too. I think it would actually be less frustrating if they sucked consistently instead of showing flashes of brilliance and then totally failing to show up like they did the other night.
