I'd forgotten that. I remember everyone on his team standing up for him after the loss, though.
That would have been just brutal.

I remember watching that one ... it was jaw-dropping, seeing it happen, and his reaction.

I meant specifically on a delayed penalty. Being from (near) Edmonton, I remember that one well, albeit not as well as the OTHER Smith's. I'm not going to get over that one until probably ever.
The Other Smith's was also the fault of that goalie, Conklin. Just a lack of communication.
On an unrelated note, does anybody else here think that Pierre McGuire gets a boner everytime he talks about Ovechkin? It's a little ridiculous.

haha yep.. last night he claimed that Ovechkin physically
dominates guys he knows are physically weaker than him  it's the same thing with Dion Phaneuf
Way to suck your way out of the playoffs, Oilers. God this team is useless.

I know, the one F'n team they shoulda beat, Its gonna take a small miracle now :?
i think pierre gets a hard on when he he talks about men in general

It hasn't been a good month for either Alberta team. The Flames are sucking their way out of 3rd seed in the conference and have pissed away a 12-point lead in the division. Way to go, Flames.
:nooooo
Well in the East our beloved Habs have a chance with these two games in hand on the Rangers and Philly to actually get to 6th...Big week I hope they can now turn the corner and make some kind of run and focus here :rambo:

At this rate they'll somehow BOTH lose the final two games against each other. Ah well, at least that beats just the Oilers losing. Which is probably what will actually happen. Sigh.

aside from you of course Tiger. :thumb:
Ovechkin can score all he wants, but until he hoists Lord Stanley's Mug, it doesn't really matter.
Sorry this response is so outdated, been busy...
Yeah! I agree with you, about Ovechkin I mean, (not Tiger)
I am not a real Ovechkin fan, yeah he has talent, but I am partial to Malkin.
I am glad to see Ovechkin finally get the 50, with about a thousand shots on goal the real story would have been "thousand shots and Ove could not even get 50 goals" I have to laugh about how his
assist number is so low, puck hog?
Well, it's official. The Flames have completely pissed away their lead in the division. With the current slump they're in, I was afraid of this happening. But now that the day has finally come, I suddenly feel a sense of calm. I don't even care about 3rd seed anymore. If we end up getting it after all the smoke has cleared, fantastic. If not, who gives a crap. I just hope the boys can use these last 7 games to iron out some kinks before the playoffs start. GO FLAMES!

Should Keenan be fired and replaced by Sutter? I don't know the situation as well as you would over there, but if anyone can turn it around for them I believe Sutter can, they look absolutely dismal right now.

I wouldn't say they look dismal. But they do look very average right now, and they're definitely not playing up to their potential. If they don't get past the first round this year, I think Keenan will definitely be replaced...hopefully by Sutter. 4 straight first round exits will not sit well with the fans in this town. Personally I'd like to see a complete overhaul of the coaching staff whether we go far or not. But of course some of this falls on the players as well. This is the most talented team this city has had since the late 80s/early 90s. I'm absolutely baffled by how pathetic our power play is, considering the ridiculous amount of firepower we have up front. Perhaps it's a chemistry thing and these guys just don't gel together. Who knows. The good news is that they've actually played very well over the last 2 games, beating Minnesota soundly and then losing a heartbreaker to San Jose. They fired 35 shots on Nabokov the other night, but the guy stood on his head and they just couldn't get anything past him. Right now they're stuck in this win one/lose one pattern, which isn't gonna work when you're fighting for the division crown against a Vancouver team that is playing their best hockey of the year. At least there are still 7 games left, which is plenty of time to get their shit together before the playoffs, division title or not. I just want to see them get out of the first round. Anything beyond that is gravy as far as I'm concerned.
nice win by the habs last night (I know it was vs. the 5 goals a game Islanders) but the power play looked great and they moved past the rangers into 7th (with a game in hand) - keep it rolling boys...
And Tanguay gives us the best positive-spin hockey quote of all time:
"We maybe underachieved but even though we're 77 games into it, the season is still young...."
The Habs schedule doesn't look too bad for the last few games, except 1 game against Boston ... that being said, they still have the opportunity to screw the pooch solidly this season. The season is still young!
