agreed...but it will never happen..

did i hear right that NBC didn't even show the OT between Ottawa and Buffalo(perhaps it was Anaheim/Detroit) so they could go to Horse Racing???

the only reason they were playing in the afternoon was for those fucking douchebags at NBC

Yeah it was the overtime between Ottawa and Buffalo and they cut to the fucking pre game show for the Preakness Stakes, what a joke.

A joke indeed, but don't blame NBC. They were contractually obligated to show the Preakness pre-race at 5:00. Blame Gary & Friends for signing a TV deal that allows a network to leave before the end of a game, or for scheduling the game at 2pm in the first place, despite knowing ahead of time that NBC wouldn't be able to carry a possible overtime.
A US TV network cutting away from one sport to show something else they are contractually obligated to show is hardly a new thing.

Hell, it used to happen on CBC all the time. Does no one here remember why Dave Hodge was fired from CBC?

Dave Hodge worked for CBC??!! Confusedhock:

Valiant comeback effort by the Wings in the 3rd tonight but credit to the Ducks for dominating as much as they did the first two periods. Sens-Ducks should be a good series. Ottawa has clearly been the best team so far in these playoffs, but they haven't yet faced a team with defencemen as good as the Ducks. If Giguere is at his best they'll have a chance, but as much as it pains me to say, I see Ottawa winning in 6.

While I don't particularly want to see Chris Pronger win the Stanley Cup, I want to see the Sens win it even less. So prove me wrong Anaheim, prove me wrong.

I remember that, he was pissed off that the CBC wasn't going to show the overtime of the hockey game and go to the national instead. So he threw his pencil on air and was fired. I dont blame him, who wants to watch the news instead of O.T?

Anyhoo, Anaheim vs. Ottawa in the finals, who called that anyone?

I say Ottawa wins in 6 or 7, I get the feeling its there time. But Anaheim is tough to beat so it really can go either way, have to give the Ducks the edge in goal and defence and that usually is the difference. But you could have made the same case with NJ and OTT so who knows? I just hope its a good final..

Go Sens.
Should be a good final. 2 teams that have played their balls off through every series. Sucks that I don't get CBC in Rochester because I'm dreading having to listen to the NBC/VS idoits anymore. Jesus do they suck. Not pulling for anyone but if I was to pick a team I guess I'd go for the Ducks only because Todd Marchant's from Buffalo. Lame but you gotta pull for the hometown boys. (and not in a team from Canada/USA way, from my hometown way)
Anyone else see Chelios pull a class move after the game and leave the ice before shaking hands with the ducks players......that guy is my hero
Well most Canadians will be cheering for the Sens (including myself) but at the same time we could cheer for the Ducks seeing how 19 players on the roster are Canadian.... (the most Canadian players on one team this playoffs). So either way, Canada wins!

edit: as far as hometown boys go, Adam Mair of Buffalo and Bryan McGratton of Ottawa both went to my high school, its too bad McGratton won't be dressed at all in the finals..... has he even played one playoff game this year? I thought maybe he played game one against Pittsburgh to keep Laraque in line?

yeah, i never liked that dick either. time to retire old man. anyone catch the sign a Sharks fan made him in the previous series? It read: "Hey Chelios, my grandmother is single!" i laughed.

It was pretty funny to hear Millen describe that one:

What a class move by the veteran Chelios, going over to the Ducks bench and shaking the hands of the Anaheim coaching staff and...oh wait....he's leaving the ice without shaking the hands of the Duck players.....what a classless move.

I wonder how poor Paul McGuire feels. It was pretty damn obvious to me that he was rooting for a Buffalo and Detroit final. Regardless of whether or not he was on TSN or NBC, I got the feeling I was watching a broadcast being done by a Buffalo station (especially during the Rangers series) or a Detroit station (during any series). I loved when he maintained during the 5-0 Detroit win in game 3 of the Ducks' series that Datsyuk wasn't a homer and he could score on the road. I knew that was preposterous so I had to look it up. Here's the final tally:

Datsyuk at home: 9GP, 6G, 6A, 12PTS, +5
Datsyuk on the road: 9GP, 2G, 2A, 4PTS, -3

And it is worth noting that those 2 road goals came last night in the 3rd, in a classic case of "too little, too late". Leave it to McGuire to not let the fcts get in the way of reality. Anyway, it appears that Datsyuk either has a case of the yips on the road, or he simply can't deal with the home team having the last change and being forced to deal with the other team's #1 checking line more often than not.

Reminds me of a few years back when the Flyers and Leafs met in the playoffs and Keith Primeau - a superstar in his own mind - called the Leafs a bunch of "homers", despite the fact that his home/road points split was something like 9 to 2.

Bobby Orr? I would contend that Lidstrom isn't even the best defenseman right now, let alone all time. Pronger, Neidermeyer, and Lidstrom are CLEARLY the top 3 ELITE d-men in hockey. That alone should be enough acclaim. For Healey to go one step further and start calling him the greatest ever..... Confusedhock:

Yeah that's a little ridiculous, but I would say he is one of the best ever, you can't argue with 4 norris trophies.

I know Edmonton loves hating Pronger, but somehow Lidstrom stole a Norris Trophy from him last season...Pronger definitely deserved it.

I agree.
Huh? Confusedcratch:

Lidstrom deserved the Norris last year. He clearly was the best D-man in the 05-06 season.. Zubov and Niedermayer were better than Pronger as well.

Yeah, whatever. In your dream world maybe.
Dream world?
Lidstrom led all defensemen in scoring (16 goals, 64 assists), was 3rd overall in ice time per game, was a +21, and was one of the few players in the league to average more than five minutes of power-play and six minutes of shorthanded time per game. Not to mention he was a major component in his team finishing 1st place overall.

And your case for Pronger winning it? Besides the Oilers finishing 14th place overall... Tongue

Edmonton or Detroit? Hmmm, I wonder which team was better last season. I'm sure Lidstrom would have had the Oil in 1st place overall last season.
So that's your argument for Pronger winning the Norris last year? Wow, calling it weak would be an understatement.

Here's the results of last year's Norris Trophy vote:

1. Nicklas Lidstrom, DET 1,152 (91-28-8-2-0)
2. Scott Niedermayer, ANA 817 (29-57-16-15-3)
3. Sergei Zubov, DAL 464 (0-21-42-31-14)
4. Zdeno Chara, OTT 430 (5-14-35-30-17)
5. Wade Redden, OTT 115 (0-1-12-12-12)
6. Mathieu Schneider, DET 111 (4-5-1-4-19)
7. Chris Pronger, EDM 97 (0-1-5-15-20)
8. Dion Phaneuf, CGY 61 (0-0-6-6-13)
9. Bryan McCabe, TOR 44 (0-1-2-6-9)
10. Lubomir Visnovsky, LOS 39 (0-0-2-6-11)

name, team, total points, (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th place votes)

I loved Selanne's response when asked about that:

Whatever. Have a nice summer.
lol, it pains me to say this, but TEemu is the best Fin in hockey ever IMO...good lord how i wish they could get him on a line with Koivu in Montreal Sad.
