Rangers clinch, it's looking like it'll be a Rangers/Devils first round matchup...they play each other Sunday afternoon to close out the regular season, should be an interesting game to say the least, and it could potentially decide which team has home ice.
Buffalo were just eliminated minutes ago, i find that hard to believe. I knew they would be in tough to duplicate their success of last season with the losses to Drury & Briere, but never did i envision them missing the playoffs altogether. At my playoff hockey pool a year ago, pretty much everyone had Daniel Briere at the top of their list (including myself...and Briere did go 1st overall)...by the time it got to me, there were about 5 Sabres already taken, so i went a different route, took Spezza & Heatley back-to-back
The leafs were just what Ottawa needed tonight…and the Habs, eliminated the Sabers.
The only other teams I enjoy watching the Habs eliminate from the playoffs more, Bruins, Leafs, Nordiques and Golden Seals.
I didn't realize that 'Canada's Team' employed such classy fans. I'm not going to argue the hit, because it looks like it was clean enough to be admissible only in that categorically unapproachable grey area regarding head-shots.
But I wonder, I really do, why a sizable portion of the Air Canada Centre would cheer hysterically when an injured player lay on the ice in disarray.
I've never seen that before. Has anybody seen that before? A cascade of euphoria when a player lay on the ice in obvious discomfort. Classy. Could've sworn the game was in Buffalo tonight.
As I have said before, I'm almost positive that nobody in Toronto even remembers why they dislike Alfredsson anymore, and am nearly certain that many Toronto fans would personally like to 'board' Darcy Tucker themselves after the year he, and his team, has had.
Of course, my favourite moment of the evening was Mr. Tucker himself screaming, sheepishly, to Dany Heatley "Watch your knee, watch your knee" from the penalty box. What a jerk-off. If the Leaf's are looking to buy anybody out this off-season, I suggest they start with him.

I'd venture this happens a lot more than you think. Check it out the next time someone gets hurt in a Rangers-Isles game or a Pittsburgh-Philadelphia game... especially Philly, those fans are insane!
I can agree with you in one respect... Tucker should be among the first of the Leafs' old guard given a one-way ticket out of town. He may be useful to some team now, but not to a Leaf team whose priority should be undergoing a full-blown rebuilding job...
... which makes it even more mind-blowing to me that Cliff Fletcher would openly talk about bringing Sundin back next year... but that's another argument for another day...
Well, at least the Canucks won't make the playoffs either!

I was at this game in Vancouver when Peca leveled Selanne. Notice the cheering from Vancouver fans as Selanne lies sprawled on the ice, and then they cheer again when he falls down after trying to stand up.

Ovechkin has the most goals for a left winger in the history of the game. He leads the league in goals and points. He's been the best player in hockey this season without a doubt.
I'm not completely sure about this but I am pretty confident that Luongo isn't too upset about the Canucks missing out on the playoffs. Now he can go to Florida to be with his wife and newborn baby.
If Naslund and Morrison are back next year with the Canucks, I'm switching teams. Nazzy is the second worst captain in the NHL, with the worst being Bill Guerin. The Canucks have ZERO SNIPERS!!! NONE! NADA!! ZIP!!!
The Leafs should not ask Sundin back. They need to start over and find a NEW LEADER. Someone on The Score asked who would be the leader of the Leafs if Mats didn't come back. Well, that's something the Leafs have to find. They need a fresh start and Mats coming back to play one more year is just a band-aid solution when the Leafs need a full on surgical operation.
Of course, Vancouver just missed the playoffs so maybe they are in need of an overhaul also. In fact, I'm convinced that the Canucks need an overhaul. In that respect, they are somewhat similar to the Leafs. However, the Canucks made the second round of the playoffs last season with basically the same roster so they have at least proven that they aren't quite as far gone as the Leafs.
I have recently found myself doing something I never thought I'd do- cheering for the Sens. Go SENS! Take down the Bruins! Go Devils! Take down the Flyers!
Caps/Panthers tomorrow night should be interesting, Caps need just a single point. The Panthers are playing well though, so a win for Washington is far from a guarentee. If it's anywhere nearly as dramatic as the Devils/Islanders came from a year ago, it should be a good one. I still can't believe the Devils tied that game with 1 second left, but of course it didn't matter because the Islanders ended up winning it in the shootout on the poke-check by Dubie (not going to attempt to spell his name).
I'm looking forward to the Rangers/Devils game Sunday afternoon too! They are playing each other in the 1st round, but Sunday's game will decide if the series starts in Jersey, or as MSG. The Rangers need to win the game in regulation to secure home ice (and a 8-0 sweep against the Devils this season)....if the Devils pick up a single point, Jersey gets home ice.

I feel dirty saying this, but Yes! Thank you Edmonton! Just like last year, Calgary has backed themselves into a playoff spot due to their tendancy to crap the bed in big games. We're most likely going to be eaten alive in the first round by Detroit or San Jose, but at least I get to watch my team play for another week or so. Of course if they beat the 'Nucks tomorrow night, they still have a chance of finishing 6th. Please god, give us Minnesota!
