Leafs are 9 points back of the Sabres and Buffalo has a game in hand. Leafs fans are all giddy about their good start but the fact of the matter is you cant keep up with the best in the east!
I'd like to take this opportunity to applaud Jagr for having another great season, so far anyway. Grapes must hate this. Jagr gets so little respect from some, not all, Canadian media. All the guy does is rack up points, year after year after year. Even in the Washington years, when everyone said Jagr was horrible, HE STILL AVERAGED OVER A POINT A GAME. What a player. :thumb:
he's gotten tougher and less hot doggish over the years too, for that i applaud...
i loved him when he played for the pens and was crushed when they traded him for....i can`t even remember who they got- kris beech and a sack of pucks or something like that, the pens were the taker on that trade
crickey the canucks are gettin pounded 6-0 after the 2nd!!!

hock:
The Rangers made out extremely well too in their deal to acquire Jaromir Jagr. He was traded square for Anson Carter, whom was anything but impressive in his 54 game stint with the Blueshirts. Carter went on to play just 19 games as a member of the Washington Capitals.
The best part about that deal for the Rangers however, especially now in the salary capped NHL, is that the Washington Capitals are STILL paying half of Jagr's contract.
Not much going on in the NHL tonight...damn those Predators are looking good this season though. I see Radulov has 1 goal & 1 assist tonight in just 4 minutes of icetime.

I still think the leafs will miss the playoffs, although it is way to early to predict with any logic.
well, they might, but i doubt it, the East looks weak this year, weaker than it's been in a long time...
Buffalo, Montreal, NYR, New Jersey, and Atlanta, all look like the real deal...
Toronto definately look capable of making the playoffs, barring any serious collapse...same goes for Carolina...
that leaves one spot, and i see a three way dogfight for it right down to the wire, between the Penguins, Senators, and Lightning...and i think that somehow, the Sens will find away to turn things around in time to grab that final spot...if not, i think the Penguins will get it.
Dear humble fans,
Didn't you complain about "Leafs fans" a while back complaining that all they did was brag about the team and their Leafs Nation? Seems like a few of you Buffalo kids are doing the same thing? But I know I'll be wrong so I can't wait for your response.
Your posts are hilarious. It's like your in a court case fighting and fighting for your client trying your absolute hardest to convince the judge that Buffalo is the better team. Buddy, we all watch the game, we see the standings. We are aware. I'd be happy too if my team was 1st in the East and for sure I'd post a bit about it but come on, act a little civilized. No one like's a bragging fan and if you didn't constantly contradict yourself, we'd agree on that statement.

Time for the leafs to come back down to earth and assume the position of 7th-9th in the East.
Ok so you were without Sundin. We were without Afinogenov for our first meeting and tonight we were down 2 excellent defenseman.....Fact of the matter is Buffalo spotted you a two goal lead this time and you couldnt capitalize. Tough keeping up with the best in the East eh?
Fact of the matter is, you're a fool.

Man, I HATE the laffs.
Just like you haven't bragged about the Sabres being the best team in the universe and insinuated that there's no stopping them. Or shall I put it "clear sailing 2 months in".
BuffaloHipFan Wrote:Ok, shall we discuss the fact that our two top defensemen are out and three starting forwards.
But I'm not about to complain about 18-3-1. I watch every game and go to half the home games, I think I have a pretty good idea.
Well na na na na boo boo.
At this time, I would like to serve notice that if the wheels should fall off the Sabres' juggernaut, for any reason whatsoever including fatigue, injury, incompetence, incontinence, sunspots, bad karma, capricious deities or alien abduction, we at the Wonderdog Institute of Schadenfreude intend to subject Sabres fans here at the Hipbase to a withering torrent of mockery, the likes of which we normally reserve for Stephen Harper and his haircut.
You have been warned. Judgment day awaits us all. Ye shall reap what ye sow, be sure your sin will find you out, etc.
Cue the thunderbolts.
BOOM!
THUNDER BOLT JUST HIT IN THE FORM OF SHELDON SOURAY'S GAME WINNER IN THE DYING SECONDS OF O.T.!
wonder what mike's excuse will be this time ...
No need for mockery just yet. Losing to the Habs doesn't justify mockery.
I'll wait 'til they lose to the Flyers.
