Well done Nonis, now if the Habs can finally land a decent player who actually produces Ill be happy..cripes when was the last time a Montreal player was in the top 10 in points? Its been way too long.

Didn't Luongo say that if he were traded from the Panthers he would only sign a one-year contract (since he's an RFA), then test the waters next summer as a UFA? If that's the case then the Panthers potentially win this trade - big time.

Bertuzzi's a UFA after next season as well.
I was just going to post that too, Bertuzzi only having 1 year left on his contract as well.

I'm looking forward to the Draft tonight, especially since there is no clear cut #1 like Crosby in '05 or Ovechkin in '04. And i think there's a decent chance you could see one of the top picks dealt. Hopefully there will be a few other trades throughout the day/evening as well.

good, he's overrated, the only reason he gets so many points is because he's on the ice so much. He's way too slow, they should be able to pick up a good player for him though.

   That's a good one. Overrated?   Are you being serious or are you just joking? I'll assume you are just kidding.

There is a clear cut #1 though. Erik Johnson will go #1 in a few hours to the St Louis Blues. Now after #1, yes, there may be some moving and shaking.

Nonis said he has no assurances that Luongo will sign a deal. I applaud Nonis for making the type of move Burke never was willing to make. Now, hopefully he can get something for Cloutier. Maybe he can pull the fleece over Ferguson's eyes and convince him Cloutier is what the Leafs need. Big Grin

Considering Nonis inherited a playoff team and turned them into a non-playoff team, while Burke inherited a non-playoff team and turned them into a playoff team while dumping salary, well, I'd be applauding Burke. That being said, I think this was a great trade for the 'nucks. I'm actually surprised they were able to get full value for Bertuzzi. Mind you, this is the second time Keenan has traded for Bertuzzi and the first time it was an absolute steal (Bertuzzi AND McCabe AND a pick for Linden - I mean WOW), so he knows what he's doing I guess. And it was pretty clear that Luongo had no intention of staying in Florida. Perhaps Bert can get his head back on straight playing in a non-hockey market.

Oh, Luongo had to go and I think Keenan was correct to trade him. Keenan got back a decent goalie in Auld who, if he starts for FLA, will give them at least good goaltending, if not great. Bertuzzi may thrive in FLA. I woudln't be shocked if he had an 80 point season next year. He's good but he was just lazy in Vancouver.

The Burke comment was more about Burke not taking his teams to the next level. He's GREAT at taking mediocore teams and getting them into the playoffs but he would never make the big trade. He would always stick with Cloutier or go and trade for Potvin and try to convince the fans that their goaltending was top notch. Burke is still one of the top GM's and Nonis hasn't proven anything yet. It's just good to see that he had the guts to make a move that IMO Burke NEVER would have made.

I guess the Leafs are targeting Nabakov. Wonder who is trade bait in Toronto?
   at the Avalanche. Tanguay for Leopold and picks?  What a steal for Calgary.
I don't understand that deal at all from a Colorado perspective.
couple of steals for the canadian teams! love it
I find the details of Pronger wanting a trade to be total crap.

Where do Athletes get off complaining about being away from their families, andhow hard it is, and how being traded closer would solve all problems?

You get transfered in the Military, in a deskjob or in any place really, and there isn;'t squat you can do about it. they suck it up and move.
and bring their families with them.

That's real Life!!!!

if I made $6.5 million a year, and was bitching about my family being so far, Iwould take some of that money, ship them and all of our stuff up, and shove it into the brand new mansion I just purchased.

It's horseshit and selfish.
He is treated like a god here, and he has punched all Oiler bleeding hearts in the face.

I hope we trade him to Columbus, with a "have fun winning the cup there" postcard attached.
It is pretty brutal for you Oil fans to have this happen. Roger Millions was on the Fan here in Calgary yesterday and said that after Game 7 Pronger was the only Oiler who didn't seem terribly upset that they had lost - he was clearly happy that it was over and he was on his way out.

The thing that I don't get is most NHLers have June, July, and August off. When you've got more money than 99.9% of the population and three months off, you are telling me that the Mrs. can't take a few flights back to wherever the hell she wants to be a few times a year?!? I mean grow up.

Steve Simmons has a great line in his column today: "How about trading Mrs. Pronger for Mrs. McCabe".

What a joke! Ship him to Washington and go after Chara or Jovo. That pisses me off and I am just a band wagon Oiler fan. Cant imagine how pissed all the true Oil fans are. He better get his ass boo'd off every time hes back in Alberta. Doesn't Peca want out because of family reason too. Screw him as well.

Real pumped for the Flames deal though. About time Leotard got shipped. What were the Avs thinking?
Comrie is no longer public enemy number one in E-Town.

I can just picture when Pronger plays here next....jerseys on the ice, life sized poster burning before the game.

it'll be bad.

real bad.
