It's not like this is the first time Alfie has hit someone dirty. He's a repeat offender as far as hitting guys from behind. To not even get a penalty on the play? WOW! He should feel lucky he didn't get a 1 game suspension. Alfie is a punk. Everyone outside of Ottawa knows it.
Technically, all of the Ottawa fans on here agree that he got away with one. And I'd like to see the tally on dives and wines by both teams, since you say they are close. The best format would be to give me the exact date followed by the nature of the dive or whine, and which players were involved. You can do it in a spreadsheet if you want.
Watch to see if Tallinder plays tonight. If he doesn't, I'll pretend to be outraged that Alfie really did hurt him. If he does, then I'll be convinced that all of the "Tallinder might not play in game 3" headlines are bullshit and that it is being used by Buffalo in some victimization attempt.
Whether Tallinder plays or not is irrelevant. Hitting someone from behind head-first into the boards is about as dangerous a play as there is in hockey, and should be penalized under all circumstances.
Yeah I know it is irrelevant as far as calling the penalty is concerned. Whether he plays or not has more to do with what I think his reaction to the check from behind is, and not so much with whether or not the penalty should have been called. Alfie seriously got away with one.

Still a little early.. but quite possible if he continues playing like he has thus far. He's a complete player, the physical side he's shown has been amazing.. the best hockey of his career IMO.
Alfredsson had an awesome hit from behind last night. It was truly a special play.

Yeah, and?
If you've watched his play this playoffs, you'd see he's done a bit more than that.
Leave it to you to add a comment like that..
So just because he gets a few points, he has free reign to hit guys from behind and be a punk?
Huh? Where do I say that?

cratch:
If you've watched Ottawa's games these playoffs, his physical play and impressive forechecking (knocking guys off the puck deep in the offensive zone) has directly led to numerous Ottawa goals.
He's always gotten the points, but the physical side of his game was a facet that was almost always missing. i.e. he's become a complete player. One questionable hit doesn't change that fact.

Just to add fuel to the fire, I do recall a somewhat "questionable" hit (from behind) on Tucker in the playoffs a few years back.......

I'm talking about this year's playoffs.. and by no means am I a fan of Alfredsson, but there's no arguing he has played incredibly well thus far, and has been more physical (clean hits I'm referring to) than years bygone.
But anyways... you could probably say every player who's ever played the game has had at least one or two 'questionable hits'. Two of the greatest ever, Mark Messier and Gordie Howe, had a lot of 'questionable hits'.

I don't have time to keep track of the dives. I'd have to be sitting at my computer and watching the game on the computer, and not take my eyes off the play for one second. I'll be watching the Suns/Spurs game tonight when I get home. I doubt I'll even get to watch the Sens/Sabres play.
I actually think Lindy Ruff whines a little more than Murray but overall both teams do dive and whine a lot. When I watch them play, it's like none of the players bothered sharpening their skates. I mean, they go down so friggin easily. It should be almost impossible to take a pro hockey player off his feet without exerting some kind of force; you'd think so anyway.
I don't think Tallinder is all that hurt either.
As for the Sabres, they should feel lucky. At least Alfie didn't hit their guy from behind and then SCORE like he did to the Leafs and Tucker a few years ago. That would have really been rubbing salt in the wound. :rambo:

Sure, Alfie is playing better than years past. I mean, he has actually shown up this year in the playoffs, which is more than you can say about previous years.
That was the single most disgusting performance in a playoff hockey game I have ever seen in my life. To only get 15 shots on goal is pathetic. Never in my life have I witnessed a shittier powerplay...honestly, who gives up a 2 on 0 while on a powerplay.
Buffalo you should be ashamed of yourselves. This team has packed it up and has completely quit on Lindy. I think he's called out too many of his players and they obviously aren't the type to be "called out" and respond well afterwards. I'm simply at a loss for words with what I just saw....any Sabre fans out there can you shed some light on that "game" they just played??
I say it'll be 5-0 in game 4 for the series sweep by the Sens, as much as it disgusts me to say it.
They looked absolutely lethargic out there. Just terrible hustle until the last 2-3 minutes. Miller absolutely saved the rest of the team's ass by making some incredible saves, but nobody can save every shot on goal when they were swarming the net like Ottawa was tonight. The only enjoyment I got out of the game tonight was watching the bellyaching by Corvo for his two penalties.

Never truer words.
I've never been so depressed. (even after 99). I would have rather not even made the playoffs than watch this garbage. This is the confence finals. c'mon already. What a shitty way to go down. Miller and Max are the only ones that came to play last night. Max didn't score but at least he was hitting something. And fuckin Kalinin. Good GAWD what a peice of crap he's been. How many times does he have to PASS RIGHT TO THE OTHER TEAM before they bench him. Nobody can clear the puck out of the zone, nobody can get in the zone. ARRRGGGHHHHH. This sucks. I don't want Ottawa to win the cup at all (not even because of this series) but if you have to pick the best team to win it....they are. Good for you Sen fans. It may happen - but fuck off anyway.

Have you seen Vancouver's power play? I think it would rival the shittiness (sp?) of Buffalo. I'm sure Jim Lahey would have a good shit metaphor for it.
Well, from watching the highlights, it seems like Miller is the only player who responds to being called out.
I gotta be fair now and say that Tallinder's deliberate high stick on Alfie was a pretty pathetic display.
Briere is piece of crap. Rumors are flying bout how he quit on the team because they are keeping Drury.
Go screw yourself Briere, have fun in Philly with Biron, you quitter.
Typical French-Canadian.
Don Cherry is actually right about something. French-Canadian players stealing jobs from good old Canadian boys.
Now I start hating the flyers again.

Karma's a bitch, eh?
I can't think of a fanbase that deserves it more.
