hopefully his eye was just swollen and it won't be a long-term inury...
only good thing that could possibly come out of this situation is that it really fires up the team...or that koivu returns and it really fires him up...
tough night, but i still have faith in my habs, they've been through tougher spots than this before.
I didn't see the play in question, but I hope Saku isn't too hurt. As much as I loathe the Habs, I think Saku is awesome and has never gotten the credit he deserves. It was laughable in 03/04 when some members of the Montreal media were saying that he should hand over his captaincy to that clown Ribeiro.
Bad News...Flyers beat Sabres.
Good News...Get to go to Game 5 in Buffalo Sunday at 2 pm. It will be a Buffalo Bills like tailgate atmosphere if I know this city!! Love the afternoon games.
Forsberg sucks :rambo:
Yeah that was tough to watch with Koivu, hopefully it's not as bad as it looks, because frankly it didn't look good. It obviously should have been a penalty and i can see why you'd be upset. Cory Stillman was cut on the play, but just barely, and having to kill off a 4 minute PP for an incident like that was tough, but they did it.
How good did Cam Ward look! This guy has a very bright future in this league.
My Rangers are all but done. They completely controlled the 1st period last night, as JD said the puck was in the NJ end probably 14 or 15 minutes of the opening 20, yet the Devils came out of the first with a 2-0 lead. The Devils are like a machine right now, they very rarely make a mistake, and they just block everything. The rare time that you do get something through, Martin Brodeur is there to stop it. When it comes to offense, they just sit back and wait for you to make a mistake, and if you do, bang it's in your own net.
They have won 14 straight games, and i think they are the team to beat in the East right now. As much as i dislike them, i have $300 riding on them to win the Cup

Are all Rangers fans devoted to the team as much as you are?

cratch:
You could place bets through our local newspaper here, and they had both New Jersey and San Jose's odds of winning the Cup 30-1, so i put $10 on NJ and $15 on SJ

i wouldn't have bet on San Jose...i doubt they can beat Calgary, Detroit, Colorado, Dallas, or Edmonton in a best of 7...
Koivu is out for the rest of the playoffs, shit!!!!! :x

Seriously? WOW. Calling Ribeiro a clown is and understatement. He's much worse than a clown.
Too bad for Koivu. That's the way hockey is though. Those dumb jackasses keep talking about keeping stickwork out of hockey but they keep using their sticks as weapons. A high sticking incident like that should get a player kicked out of the game. It's utter crap that players skate around with their sticks swinging everywhere and it's fortunate that more players aren't hit with serious injuries. Koivu was wearing a visor too.
That's too bad that he's out for the playoffs, it's a huge loss for the Canadiens. Hopefully for their sake they can rally around it though, losing their captain & a top center is tough. Hopefully Saku will be ok though, i hate watching that clip.
And i don't really expect San Jose to win the Cup, but hey, i figure they at least have an outside chance. And really, there is no use putting a $10 bet on Detroit, because their odds i think were 3-1, so if they win you only get $30 back...where as the teams with the worst odds were San Jose and New Jersey, despite the fact that San Jose were one of the best teams in the NHL the past few months, and New Jersey were riding a 11 game winning streak.
Darn it all to heck! Kipper lets in a rare softie in OT and the series is now tied 2-2. And only 4 seconds after we killed off that penalty too. F**K! Iggy was amazing tonight. He almost won the game single-handedly in the 3rd period. I like our chances coming home for game 5, and I still say the Flames will win the series in 6.
GO FLAMES!!!
Its one thing for Saku to miss the rest of this season, I just hope his career is not over.
Williams of the canes pissed me off when he said he deserved a 2 minute penalty on the play. Its like say your sorry and just admit how serious your infraction was.
I hope the Habs can rebound.
John Tortorella is an assclown. You don't rip your players like that publicly. What an ass! We all know Burke and Grahame suck but that doesn't give the coach the right to basically rip Grahame and blame him for all of Tampa's woes. The goaltending has been bad but it would be nice if the defense showed up and the forwards came back once in a while. Tortorella doesn't have Khabibulin there this year to make him look like a great coach. How can the players respect a guy who singles out players that viciously? Darryl Sutter singles out players but he doesn't come out and rip them in that manner. Tortorella should be ashamed of himself.
i didn't see where it said Koivu was out for the playoffs in that article...
knowing the kind of competitor that Koivu is, if there's any chance of him returning, even the slightest, he will be back...it's a waiting game now.
