GO HABS!! Big game against Ottawa tonite, hopefully we can take them out this time, Im tired of losing to them plus they seem to be getting their stride back, but with Gerber in net you always have a chance.

They sure were yappy last season.......
Go Habs.

So do the Leaf fans think the playoffs are in reach? Based upon the sportscentres of the world, they're leading the league in points and the greatest story of the year.

lol, the Leafs' playoff hopes ended long ago. It seems like they've done this the last few years as well - they start playing well once they're out of it and the games don't matter. And in the process they ruin the team's chance of getting a top pick in the draft.

But on the other hand, would Leafs fans rather support a team that has the character to play to win even when the situation is hopeless, or a team that plays to lose so it can pick up a better draft pick?

I know I'd rather back the team that always plays to win.

If I was a Leafs fan, I'd be pretty pissed off that they don't play with that determination all season long. The late-season surge seems to be part of their attraction, though: everyone loves the hard-working underdog.

That's just it though - this isn't a team that always plays to win. They only started to do so once most people had written them off and they were no longer under any expectations to win.

And I'm by no means suggesting the players should be throwing games to help the team's draft hopes, I'm just making an observation about this organization's continuing cycle of mediocrity. They're not good enough to win anything, but they're not bad enough to bring about drastic rebuilding.

Yeah, that's the ugly truth. I'm sure they'd like to point to key injuries, etc., but there's no disputing the Jekyll and Hyde quality of that team.

To anyone on the Leafs who wants to use the injuries excuse, I point to Colorado.

The Leafs will miss the playoffs because Andrew Raycroft couldn't even play average hockey in his 14 starts this season. Give them five or six wins in those 14 games (rather than two) and they are tied with Boston for 7th place.

Thanks for another awesome season Andrew!!!!
But he got 37 wins last year!!!!!

In other news, when is the NHL going to get its head out of its ass? Simon gets 30 for stomping, and Pronger gets 0 for stomping Kesler, I know its not like he cut the guys leg in half but the intent was there and still stomped him, they seem to have a soft spot for him when it comes to punishment, why he aint Crosby?

you can see the vid here:

Pronger's and overrated goon.. it's an absolute joke that he didn't get suspended for that considering he also has a track record for being a dirty player. I hope he gets what's coming to him in the playoffs.
I hope Pronger gets it as well..that's bullshit the league doesn't suspend that kind of crap

Toronto should have done what NJ and Calgary does...play Toskala until he says he's tired. The juggling of the goalies killed them at the beginning of the season.
Habs are crappin the bed against Ottawa again..*sigh*, I guess they have our number this year.

That was probably the most complete game the Senator's have played in nearly six weeks. Gerber has been amazing (as a select few have always thought he could be), and it is becoming more apparent every day that Emery really was the fuse...

From the inside, this team still has a very good chance at finishing first in the Conference (surprising, really, even from a Sens fan who probably takes far too much from the fickle 'fanatics' who wrote the team off 15 days ago) ... from the outside, this is going to be one hell of an April Eastern Conference playoffs... every team with a legitimate chance at the top 8 (and I mean every team) has had more streaks then an incontinent light-house keeper manning the coast without a lavatory.

I can't wait for April, and not only because I want the nine feet of snow off my front lawn. This is going to be exciting...

Don Cherry made the point the a few weekends ago, and I agree with him, that Gerber needs to know he's the guy, he can't play well when there's pressure on his job. At the start of this season he played great when Emery was hurt, and when Emery came back Gerber started shitting the bed, and now that Murray has basically relegated Emery as the permanent backup Gerber is playing really well again.
