Well under those circumstances, i'd welcome a team from the West with open arms
It might be a long shot, but as long as they get in, anything is possible. To me there really isn't any one team in the East which looks unbeatable, and and aside from maybe Ottawa (assuming they get things turned around quickly), i don't think any upset in the first round should come as a huge surprise.
Make it 9 straight losses to West opponents...only SJ remains.

I wasn't suprised. The Leafs always play a different game against Montreal. And the Habs, for their part, show some immaturity still that reflects in their home record.
the pens seem to be holding their own since the
injury, nice to see geno making his way up on the scoring leaders as well

The Rangers/Flyers game this afternoon was a wild one. Tons of huge hits, 8 fighting majors in all (should of been 10, not sure how one of the scuffles wasn't deemed a "fight"). A scary moment too when Fedor Tyutin layed one of his patient hip checks (maybe the best hip checker in the league today)....Tyutin layed the hip into Steve Downie against the boards, the ref got in the way & had to sort of jump over Tyutin & Downies legs, and Downies skate came up & hit the ref in the face, he went down in a pile of blood, and then a line brawl immediately broke out. He ended up with a broken nose & 20 stitches, but it could of been a lot worse, thankfully it missed his eyes.
It's fairly disapointing that the inclusion of two players can have such a dramatic impact on a hockey game (comparing the Senator's loss on Tuesday to tonight's fairly dominating effort against the Canadien). While the team surely hasn't restored it's once 'dominating' influence on the league, it's quite nice to see Alfie and Heatley back, and I continue to believe that Alfredsson will take the MVP. The team does have a second line, I swear; Mike Fisher is having a good run this year.
The TSN 'PoWeR rAnKiNgS' had Ottawa at 17th in the league this past week, behind Buffalo and Pheonix, and slightly ahead of Columbus and Florida. Seriously? Perhaps a harsh realism, or an unrealistic synopsis, it's tough to tell, but I bet all the Hollywood drama surrounding Wade Redden this week, and Ray Emery over the last, let's say, 18 months, had something to do with it... the most local drama locally since the 2006 Federal election, and at least as much dramatic impact media-wise since the writer's strike. If the city is 'lucky' enough, we'll be entering the playoff's as the Eastern Conference champions while we enter a Federal election... One Great City... "I love this town"...

The same TSN that said the Sens were gonna lose 8 games all year when they were on that huge run at the start of the year? :lol: based on the current trends it doesn't look like they'll even make the playoff at this rate :roll:
Saw my first-ever Battle of Alberta last night, and while nothing can ever top Toronto/Montreal...this was pretty close.

ya, that was ugly, not quite as ugly as Montreal's piss poor showing, BUT, they weren't dealing with the Sens, it was the Avs...which coudl almost make it worse...
bottom line, neither team has any excuses for losing to any team by those margins.
How about this tear Evgeni Malkin is on! In the past few weeks he's been leaping over players in the scoring race every game, and now after todays 4 point showing against he Flyers, he finds himself tied with Daniel Alfredsson for 2nd in the NHL, trailing only fellow countryman & 2004 first rounder Alexander Ovechkin. Actually the #1 & 2 picks in that draft are currently 1 & 2 in scoring!
