Just a horrible deal (bookmark this now, or put it in your notebook, or whatever it is you do with my posts, stalkergunn).
WAY too much money - but the killer is the no trade clause, which means the next GM can't clean up the mess.
Now I'm anticipating the 5 year $25 million extension for Belfour.
I really don't think this move is as bad as it seems, sure it's lots of money but whether you like it or not Bryan McCabe is considered a top tier NHL defenseman...honestly, who could the Leafs have replaced McCabe with and got back comparable talent for less money? There aren't too many names that come to mind. Chara? Redden? Blake? Don't tell me they wouldn't come at a cost of 5.5 Million per year.
The "no-move clause" is interesting though...hopefully he plays as well as he did last year for the next 5 years so we don't even have to consider moving him.
What bugs me is hearing that the Leafs were even considering Chara, if I were to take either of those Senator D Men it would be Wade Redden. His play most resembles the hole that would have been left if McCabe didn't return.
I heard Don Cherry on sports radio saying that Chara was going to the Rangers for sure and that he was going to get 9 mill a season. Take it for what it's worth but I think Don Cherry had one too many wobbly pops when he was talking to the radio show.

Jay McKee is out for tonight's game..

See I can say that knowing there are more true hockey fans in my town of 8 thousand than in the entire USA. So even if you do collect all 6 of the other hockey fans in your area to come kick my ass I'm just not that worried. Go Oilers! (my new favorite team).
Nice jingoism. Has TTH taught you absolutely nothing?

p.s. Your math skills are severely lacking.
Quote:I agree with everything you said. It made me sick to see the Lightning win a few years ago, they couldn't even sell out their own building during the final series. That's beyond pathetic. It was disgraceful.
Cite a source, because I find this incredibly difficult to believe. The Lightning averaged more than 100% capacity in 05-06, which is higher than the vaunted Oilers, btw.
Don't get me wrong, I am no Lightning fan, but to say something this inflammatory requires a legit source.
