Saw that coming a mile away, I know Clarke is revered in those parts but its time he stepped aside, time has passed him by. The new NHL isnt for guys like Clarke anymore.
This kills me:
Clarke said the Flyers' record played no role in his resignation. He said he began feeling spent during last year's draft and hoped for renewed zest once the season started. That never happened, and Clarke said he decided to quit after the third game of the season.
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure Bobby, whatever you say.
What are you thinking Janne?
With just one regulation loss in their first seven games and a thrilling comeback victory on Saturday against Jose Theodore and the Colorado Avalanche, the Montreal Canadiens are playing with a lot confidence.
Enough confidence for defenceman Janne Niinimaa to make a bold prediction for the team's Monday matchup at the Bell Centre with the first-place Buffalo Sabres.
"The Sabres are playing well right now," Niinimaa told reporters at Sunday's practice. "But they are going to lose a game, and it's going to be on Monday." http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=181634&hubname=nhl

the canucks are canadas team
Probably not the best idea to give the best team in the league more motivation to run you off the ice. Bring it Habs!!

Me too, but mostly because its hard to digest the Senators this year. In the past it would have been useless to do so, and as of last week it would have been bold, but either way, I predict the Senators will win their next three games, and jump into second place in the division. Likewise, I predict that Ray Emery will win the Vezina... perhaps I went too far on that one, but the guy has looked good (again)...

I'm gonna go ahead and make a prediction for my team as well. I predict that Calgary will get at least 5 out of 6 points on their upcoming homestand and finally get back to playing the way they're capable of. Over their last three games they've proven that they can score goals, and that's great, but they're thinking so much about offence right now that they've completely forgotten about the defensive side of things, and it's cost them. The amount of odd-man rushes they've given up over the last few games is absolutely unacceptabe. That's Oiler hockey, and that's not the kind of game I want to see from this team. Thankfully it's still very early in the season and there's still time to right the ship, but it better happen soon. I'm thinking this homestand will help. But man, the loss of Stephane Yelle is gonna hurt us big time. Word from the team is that he's out for at least 4 weeks.

Because nothing says "Canada's Team" like
one playoff round win in the last
10 seasons.
Quote:I have to give credit where its due, and the Sabres are just unstoppable right now. I cant remember a team dominating like this since the 96 Red Wings.
That's what I'm hoping for. Wasn't it the 97 wings, though? I think they had like 64 wins.

Nothing wrong with the Habs playing with a little bit of swagger...they've been playing some good hockey lately...
The Sabres are looking pretty frickin good. And you gotta figure that at some point this season they'll trade Biron to get even better.
I can't believe the start Afinogenov is off to - 14 points in 8 games, yet he's playing under 16 minutes a game, which is 152nd among forwards (one year wonder Martin St. Louis plays 25 minutes a game!).
