tigerthelion Wrote:Glenn Healy said during intermission that Lidstrom is arguably the greatest defenseman of all time. Yep, just when I think the TSN commentators can't get any worse, they say something like that.
I guess he's never heard of Bobby Orr.

Bobby Orr? I would contend that Lidstrom isn't even the best defenseman right now, let alone all time. Pronger, Neidermeyer, and Lidstrom are CLEARLY the top 3 ELITE d-men in hockey. That alone should be enough acclaim. For Healey to go one step further and start calling him the greatest ever.....

Lidstrom is most definitely one of the very top defensemen of his generation, but no way is he the best of alltime.
That's gotta be a tough result to take for the Red Wings, they dominated virtually all of regulation & overtime...but to have Niedermayer tie it up in the dying seconds & then Teemu win it in OT, that's gotta sting.

Yeah that's a little ridiculous, but I would say he is one of the best ever, you can't argue with 4 norris trophies.
Crud.
Oh well. Great season none the less. Don't really care you wins it now, just hope for watchable games.

I know Edmonton loves hating Pronger, but somehow Lidstrom stole a Norris Trophy from him last season...Pronger definitely deserved it.
he may have deserved it, but i`m glad he never got it

I agree.
Huh?

cratch:
Lidstrom deserved the Norris last year. He clearly was the best D-man in the 05-06 season.. Zubov and Niedermayer were better than Pronger as well.
heres hoping the nhl gets rid of these stupid afternoon games after the bs with nbc yesterday. i can only speak for myself, but my interest in playoff hockey fades away drastically when i`m forced to decide to watch a hockey game at 1 in the afternoon or spend the time outside on a nice sunny day.
especially when your team ain't in lol! i know...it ain't right...even with basketball, it just ain't right...

Dream world?
Lidstrom led all defensemen in scoring (16 goals, 64 assists), was 3rd overall in ice time per game, was a +21, and was one of the few players in the league to average more than five minutes of power-play and six minutes of shorthanded time per game. Not to mention he was a major component in his team finishing 1st place overall.
And your case for Pronger winning it? Besides the Oilers finishing 14th place overall...
