I had not seen that before, Thanks for sharing it.
I wish the best for Darren McCarty.
The Wings still have him on their roster on their website even though he hasn't played.

I believe he was "retired" for the last year, then he signed with the Wings AHL franchise in Grand Rapids. He's been playing there lately, not sure if they just called him up or not.
After the trade deadline, NHL 08s roster update has him playing on their 4th line

......I know it's just a game
wow...way to "gut check" Vancouver...blow a 2 goal lead, take a bunch of stupid penalties...when is this fucking team gonna show some leadership..oh wait..I know..when Naslund goes....

I thought they had tons of leadership in the form of Trevor Linden making big time speeches before games.. sorry couldn't resist

He wasn't retired last season - he played 32 games for Calgary but missed most of the season with an injury.

This season he hurt his ribs in Grand Rapids and hasn't played an NHL game yet. He played pretty well with Grand Rapids (10 points in 13 games), but Babcock said the clock is ticking as he needs to see him play against NHLers before he can put him on the playoff roster.
The RedWings broadcasters said that there is a chance that Darren McCarty may play for the Wings on friday night against the Blues. Hooray!

I was saying the exact same thing about the Flames a couple weeks ago during their embarrassing eastern road trip. But over the last few games, Calgary seems to have finally found their game and are gaining more confidence as the playoffs approach. Word on the street is that the team's leaders (Iginla, Nolan, Regehr, Conroy) stood up in the dressing room after their pathetic performance in Columbus and had a heated discussion with their teammates. Since then they've gone 3-1 and are playing some very solid hockey. I was a bit surprised by how flat they were in the 1st period last night, but I thought they showed a lot of character in the 2nd and 3rd when they took over the game and mounted their comeback. When the Flames are firing on all cylinders, they're very tough to beat. I'm completely baffled as to why they didn't play like this more often over the course of the season. If they had, they'd be sitting comfortably with Detroit at the top of the conference instead of being stuck in a dogfight for their division. I just hope they can keep the momentum going.

I still can't believe Huselius was a healthy scratch last night. I know he's in Keenan's doghouse, but benching your 2nd leading scorer in an important divisional game? That takes balls.
direwolf, I'd take Iginla over Naslund any day of the week. Sadly, i dont' think either team will do much once they make, or if they make the playoffs

Balls......or a massive ego, which Keenan definitely has. I think everyone has been waiting for this to happen since Keenan got hired, given his history with Huselius. I'm just surprised it is happening so late in the season.

I think it is safe to say Huselius won't be in a Flames jersey next season.....
wow...Morrison comes back for 2 weeks, and is now done for 4-6 months with a knee injury. Luongo is going back to Florida to be with his wife while she gives birth, and may ;miss at least one game.

Here's my question. A lot of Canuck fans out this way are blasting Luongo and his family for this. "he shouldn't leave his team..she should be in Vancouver..blah blah blah".

I, for one, think family is first. According to reports, this has been a pregnancy full of complications, her doctor is in Florida, and so that's where she should be. I have no problem with Bobby-Lou heading back to be with her, as if it wasn't for him, the nucks wouldn't be even close to a playoff position. What do the hearts and minds of Hipbase think? Team? or Family?

I personally think there's no argument. Family all the way.
Even if he was forced to stay with the team during the birth, there's no way his focus would be there. I think it's best for everyone that he goes down to Florida.
No question: family first.

But I definitely don't understand why she's in Florida.
Its just one of the those circumstances, you just have to accept, it family is always first. If he only misses one game I dont see it as a catastrophe, the team just needs to pull together and play like they really want to be in the playoffs, which they should be doing anyway.

Unless both teams completely crap the bed over these last few games, I'm pretty sure they'll both make the playoffs, although I think the 'Nucks are currently more in danger of missing the dance than the Flames are. If Calgary ends up playing Anaheim, San Jose, or Detroit in the first round, I definitely have a bad feeling that they'll be booking their tee times early. But if they manage to win the division and get Dallas, Minny, or Vancouver, I think they have an excellent chance of getting into round 2. But the playoffs are crazy and anything can happen. With the parity we've seen this year, I think any of the top 8 in each conference could beat any other team in a 7-game series.
