They breed those guys in Vancouver - Cooke and Burrows, and then there's Flopper Kesler. And lest we forget where Jerko Ruuto cut his teeth.

I wouldn't put Kesler in that group, but the rest I agree with. If you wanna talk about flopping, the Sens lead the league in that category. The Leafs have a few floppers as well.

Why do you call the Oilers "cheap dirty bastards"? I didn't see the game because I was watching boxing but are you aware of the scum that resides on Vancouver? Matt Cooke ring a bell? Or how about stick swinging Burrows? Now, I have no doubts that some guys on the Greasers are dirty but the Canucks have probably the biggest coward and dirtball going in Matt Cooke. (Simon will resume his #1 in the dirtbag rankings when he officially returns).
Feel free to correct me, though. I did not see the end of the game. I'll catch the highlights later.
didn't see the game eh?? missed a beauty...cheap might be the wrong word..how about sorry losers...poor losers...let the game end boys..you lost..as for Burrows swinging his stick, he got hit ten seconds after scoring an empty net goal...it was a chippy game the entire night..
Cooke...he can go to hell..i agree...

yeah..the Leafs would never have any dirty players dress for them would they
I'm glad that Stoll hit Burrows after the empty netter. It's an unwritten hockey rule that you never over-celebrate an empty netter in the regular season.
It's about time that somebody stands up for those unwritten rules, and if he gets suspended/fined for it, it means the big wigs upstairs don't understand the game.

I think in the context of that particular game, the celebration was warranted..it was one of those hard-fought battles that don't come around that often anymore in the "new" Nhl. Edmonton are just shitty losers

I never said that, did I? So is this where I should insert the "rolls eyes" emoticon?
And there is a difference between "dirty" and "gutless pukes". I don't think Cooke and Burrows are
dirty. I think they are "
gutless pukes". As much as he annoys me with his antics, at least Darcy Tucker doesn't hesitate to drop the gloves to answer for some of his questionable plays. And with 191 career goals, he's twice the player Cooke will ever be.
i'll never defend Cooke..his time has come and gone....now..as for Linden

no, i think tth fan is definately right, Burrows' didn't need to celebrate an empty-netter, not to mention as Don Cherry would tell you, there's no real need to celebrate any goal that extensively (for surely not in the regular season)...act like you've done it before, and you're gonna do it again, show some class! it was an ampty netter! and in a chippy game like that you're just asking for trouble...
if it would've happend vice versa, you would probably change your tune, so don't blame it on the non-sense like the Oilers being sore losers, or the "new" NHL...that's B.S.
The Oilers/Canucks game was exciting to watch, but the reffing was embarrassing. An Oiler gets run from behind and Stortini gets the only penalty? Naslund falls over and somebody's stick is near him, resulting in a tripping call? What a load of shit. It didn't help that two of Vancouver's three non-empty net goals were lucky bounces, either. Ah well, can't win 'em all. Or even a good portion of 'em.

That is exactly why I will never respect Ovechkin, his celebrations are absolutely ridiculous. Whenever he scores, could be in the first period or the goal to make it 8-0, he acts like he just scored the overtime winner in the stanley cup finals.

summing up my point as sore losers...

well, i think we all have to respect his on-ice abilities...but it's true, he does hot dog it a lot...at least he has the goods to back it up, but still, it's unecessary, and borderline unsportsman-like...
but, the kid loves putting the puck in the back of the net, more than anything in the world, and he defeinately shows it everytime he does.

I can certainly see how it would rub people the wrong way, but he's simply got an enthusiasm for the game that few other professionals do. Plus, his teammates will be the first to tell you that he celebrates goals by his teammates just as exuberantly, if not more.

That is true.. I guess you could look at it either way.. hot dogging or just exuberance. Personally I see it both ways, its good that he likes to score, but Bobby Orr never acted like that.
