Well, I can see I'm not the only one who knows how much of a punk and coward Alfie is. GO DUCKS! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Emery did Hasek proud during the game. The flop at the end of the first period when Getzlaf skated by was one for the ages.

Brett Hull was fantastic during the second intermission BTW.

Hey Don, what about the instigator rule. Hey Don, how do you feel about oversized equipment -- aren't those elbow pads crazy? Wouldn't more fighting be great. Visors should be illegal.

I'm surprised they didn't do a riff on no-touch icing.

It did get a little too warm and fuzzy. I thought they were going to kiss. I agreed with Hull on everything except the visor part. There are too many high sticks in hockey. I wouldn't blame players if they wore full cages. The strangest thing I heard from Hull was when he talked about the Alfie incident. He said that he lost a lot of respect for Alfie. My only beef with that is why would Hull have any respect for Alfie to begin with? :roll:

I wonder how Alfie will sleep tonight, having lost Brett Hull's respect.

My favourite part was the bit where Cherry complained that Schwarzenegger is a left-wing tree-hugger.

I still want to know why Brett Hull would respect Alfie in the first place. Alfie hasn't given anyone a reason to respect him. I guess Hull respects players before they earn respect. Alfie has done nothing except be a dirtbag his entire career and then hide behind the referees. The guy is a complete joke.

The travels, the show, the non-existent defense.
NCAA (& sometimes CIS) is the only way to go.

You're bang on, it hasn't been close at all. The Ducks have clearly been the better team for the majority of the series.

What Alfredsson did was completely stupid. I'm still not entirely convinced it was intentional, but it does look that way, and it certainly plays out that way in the media.

For everybody who claims that Alfredsson is a 'classless' player, and dirty, or cheap, or whatever accommodating synonym you feel is relevant and want to throw his way, I'm going to have to provide that you are completely wrong. Several of you are going to bring up his questionable hit on Talinder during the Buffalo series, and the majority of you recall his hit on Tucker several years back. Fine. Valid points. Both were potential penalties, neither was called. Nearly every NHL player that absorbs the limelight in the way that Alfredsson does has been in identical positions. I wish you all the best of luck in pretending that Sundin hasn't been penalized for boarding, or hitting from behind, or charging. How about Tucker? Nope. Nothing questionable about some of his conduct. Ottawa employs a few questionable characters; most notably Chris Neil. He is a dirty, hard-nosed player who has taken penalties in the past for some violent misconduct. But he hasn't been suspended seven times. If the NHL is willing to suspend Chris Pronger in the Stanley Cup finals, please, I beg of you, please somebody provide evidence that Daniel Alfredsson is a 'dirty' player, and should have been suspended, even during the regular season. My last count shows a '0'.

Realistically, most of you enjoy the hate parade on the Senators Captain because the majority of you are Leafs fans. Beyond the two isolated incidents I mentioned above, please provide more evidence that Alfredsson is a 'dirty' player. Every single Canadian broadcaster (whether it be a broadcaster on CBC, TSN or Sportsnet) has expressed complete disbelief that Alfredsson would do anything like that (while some truly believe that it wasn't intentional), because they all regard him as a classy, rule-abiding player. MacLean, Kypreos, Garrett (who appeared completely tanked on the Sportsnet post-game show after game four), MacKenzie and McGuire all agree that Alfredsson is a clean player, and this was un-befitting of his character. Christ, even Don Cherry who religiously despises European players attempted to throw Alfredsson a bone on an American network. An aura of disbelief is what it was, because nobody ever questioned Alfredsson's sportsmanship until this incident, and the majority probably won't in the future.

I must also note that Ryan Getzlaf has twice this series cross-checked a Senators player into the boards (Comrie in game one, for which he was penalized, and Neil in game three for which he was also penalized...also, to respond to 'Tigers' insinuation that Ottawa is weak, it must be noted that Mike Fisher easily took down Getzlaf during that scrum, and was in a position to beat the hell out of him, but didn't... of course, we'll soon be hearing that Mike Fisher is a 'classless' player). Is Getzlaf a dirty player? He is to me, but alas, he doesn't carry a 'C' on his shoulder, and he doesn't play for Ottawa, so this really isn't a story here. Meszaros and Schaefer were both hit from behind (Meszaros into the boards) in game four, with no penalties being called. This 'Penner' fellow is equally, if not more dirty than Neil...

I apoligize for the obnoxiously long post, but as far as I can tell, it's come to the point where the Senator's can't be called 'chokers' (if they do in fact lose the series), they've gotten this far, and I am proud of the team, and I know the fans in this city are as well... "wait, what's that? The Ottawa Senators have fans...?"...
