huge win for the habs in Nashville tonight! :thumb
just gotta keep picking up those points...
Halak just might, MIGHT, get the Habs into the playoffs.
Linden annoys me. The second goal by the Kings shouldn't have even happened if Linden knew how to take a man. :x

I missed the Sens/Sabres game, mainly because I hate both teams with a passion, so I didn't think it would be worth my time. Perhaps I should have watched.
.........nah, I don't think I really missed anything worth seeing. :rambo:
It was probably one of the best hockey games I have watched all year. I don't see how hatred for a team (which is probably completely unfounded, as is the case with most people who possess this unfathomable sense of disgust with this hockey team; their only flailing argument is that Ottawa has a sketchy track record in the playoffs. This is, of course, ignoring the circumstances that would arise had the Senators been successful in any of their previous play-off runs, in which case the despise would be even more profound) can detract from a good hockey game.
I truly hope that Lindy Ruff is sanctioned for what he did. Pretend, for a moment, that the hit on Chris Drury was indeed a 'dirty' hit (which it wasn't, it was a completely legitimate hit), does that justify sending a goon after Jason Spezza? From a reasonably unbiased perspective, Jason Spezza is a pussy. He always has been, and he probably always will be a gigantic pussy. He can't fight, he can't hit, and he probably can't shave without cringing. What transpired in the game tonight is the kind of nonsense that bothers me. It is entirely unreasonable to send a goon after a player of Spezza-esque proportions as retaliation for a legitimate hit that (unfortunately) caused injury. I would love to have the audio transcripts of the bench-to-bench debate that took place during and after the rink-wide scrum. I want to understand the logic of Lindy Ruff, because I feel that it may provide me with some much needed insight into this evolving and unfounded despise for the Senators.

How can the way I feel about a team be completely unfounded? Does this mean that a fan of hockey has to be a fan of all the teams? I didn't state a fact about the Senators. All I was referring to was that the Sens and Sabres would be the last two teams in the NHL I would cheer for if I had a choice. However, if you want to know the reasons why I don't like Ottawa, there are too many for me to list. There's the guy who killed his teammate, the coach who can barely be understood, the GM who always looks like he is sucking on a lemon, there's Alfie who annoys me in everything he does, there's the Sens annoying habit of always riding the bikes for their interviews (which Shanny hilariously poked fun at btw), there's Chris Neil skating around trying to be Bob Probert........etc.
As for the Sabres, I don't care for their whiny coach or their forever 'woe is me' attitude. Lindy still hasn't let go of their Cup loss to the Stars for cripe's sake!
I'm sure I'm in the minority though, because the Sens and Sabres seem to have a lot of fans.
As for the game being good, I'm glad for you that you enjoyed it. No matter if the game had a 10-9 finish with the winner coming with 1 second left on the clock, I'm fairly confident that I wouldn't enjoy it as much as you. I just don't enjoy watching the Sabres and Senators. Heck, I hardly enjoy watching the Canucks other than watching Luongo show how a goalie can literally carry his team on his back and lead them.

Ouch!
I don't like the Sens because they aren't the Leafs.
With all due respect to Ron Hextall and Billy Smith, Ray Emery is one of the toughest goalies to ever play in the modern NHL.
Murray should shut his month before Ruff lays him out.
Neil is a bitch and although the hit was legal, it was dirty because it was late.
I was at the game and it was probably the best one I've ever seen.
Sens suck, bring it on Emery, you playoff choker!!!!! :rambo:
In regards to the Sabres - Sens game,
What the hell would have happened if someone took a run at a leading goal scorer/top player back in the day?? It would not have gone unanswered. Same exact thing would have happened, as it should. I cannot believe Ottawa didn't have anyone with any stones big enough to defend their goalie when he was getting fed by Peters. Any one of their players should have flown in there, but nobody did. Wow! Talk about soft. To make things worse, they didn't even score on the 5-3 and ended up losing the game!
You think if Ovechkin took a shot like that Brashear wouldn't be out there on the next shift?
Good for Buffalo for sending a message. Everyone complains about Lindy's whining but let's be honest, what coach wouldn't be pissed about losing their captain, especially with Afinogenov, Kotalik, Gaustad, Spacek, Paille, Connolly already out with injuries. I think he speaks out of frustration, I know I would be pissed. All Lindy told his players to do was "Run Em," not fight them. I guess Mair and Peters misunderstood the word "run." Oh well, they deserved it!
What a great game to watch though, aside from the fighting, some great action at both ends.
Saturday night on CBC should be interesting. I expect the Sabres to come out banging again.
Still in 1st place in the NHL! GO SABRES!!
Here's the brawl, from the Sabres feed (gotta love Jeanneret going nuts):

Here's TSN's exciting version:

"the only one guilty is Drury for admiring his pass" HAHA, great stuff.
Shouldn't a clean hit be shoulder to shoulder? This one was shoulder to face!!
Thanks for the links, didnt get to watch it last night..
I would defintly have liked to hear the conversation between Ruff and Murray, if I could have got past all the whining and speech problems it might have been a reasonable conversation between two coaches
RUFF HAS A MUFF!!!!
You've gotta understand: I *loathe* the Ottawa Senators. But watching Ray Emery grinning ear-to-ear and then absolutely *killing* Martin Biron was easily the highlight of the year for me. What a hero. My friend (a die-hard Sens fan) called me right after it was over and proudly announced he was going to the game in Ottawa on Saturday. For the first time since I've known him, I was a little bit jealous.
On the flipside, meanwhile, we've got that moron Kerry Fraser. Ugh. Don't even get me started.
clean hit........but way late. He took a B line right at him. Plenty of time to pull off.
Peters after Emery - lame. They were done fighting.
Ruff sending that line out, hmmmm. Never seen a coach do that in the last 100 yrs of hockey.
Emery - one of my new favorite players. The dude is smiling the whole time during BOTH fights. How cool was that.
Great game sans fight.
How many nmore players can we lose......
GO SABRES
alfie, spazza, heatley-murderer.....what a bunch of cowards
Too bad Gaustad was out of the line up.
How about Kaleta, 4 years ago he was playing high school hockey in Buffalo, now he gets an assist in his first NHL game. :thumb:
And Baby Joe Mesi gets a 1st round knock out
Ruff Buff represents :rambo:
Lindy Ruff should be ashamed of himself. Did he steal that tactic from the mid-70s Flyers' playbook? I can't believe the whiniest coach in the league (by far) would do something so bush league. Actually, I can believe it. It's Lindy Ruff!
Man, Ray Emery beat the snot out of Biron. I'm guessing Biron will be thinking twice about crossing centre ice against the Sens again.
