The only way the Leafs would get Stamkos would be to give up all their decent players. Having mortgaged their future on Stamkos, they'd suck for years.
Stamkos, McCabe and Raycroft are not a dream team.

So, to recap, the Leafs are going to get better come October, but it is a slow process, so don't expect it to happen overnight (i.e. by October). And the Leafs have a plan in place, but they haven't compiled a list of GMs yet, which means that the plan they have in place was put in a place by a guy who won't be the GM. Sounds like a helluva plan!

Ovechkin's got the Rocket Richard, the Art Ross, and it will be a complete travesty if he doesn't get the Pearson and Hart. What a season. What a player! What a great night for hockey in Washington! I was at the game on Sat. - what a fantastic night. The Verizon Center was insane. Finally we Caps fans aren't outnumbered by the other teams fans in our own building! I don't remember this city ever being so hockey crazy, even during the run to the Cup finals 10 years ago. And what fun it is watching Ovechkin every night. Not just because he's a great player, but also his enthusiasm. He's having a blast and it shows. I can't wait for Friday.

With the Ducks out of the playoffs the media here in Toronto has really turned up the Brian Burke watch this morning. If they're to be believed he'll be the new Leafs GM by the end of the week, assuming he wants the job. He certainly would bring a culture change to the organization, but I'm not sure if he's really the best guy for the job. Yes, he's won a cup, but the foundations for that team were laid by his predecessor, and the Canucks teams he built were never anything spectacular. He's also made his fair share of questionable decisions over the years (i.e. signing Bertuzzi this season). Personally I'd have Ken Holland at the top of my list, although I'm not sure any amount of money would ever get him out of Detroit.
In other news, Brodeur, Nabokov, and Lundqvist are the finalists for the Vezina. Looking at the numbers Nabokov has the edge over Brodeur in wins (46-44) and GAA (2.14-2.17), while Brodeur led in save percentage (.920-.910). Lundqvist led in shutouts (10) but with only 37 wins and a GAA of 2.23 it'll likely be a two-horse race. Based on the numbers Nabokov gets the slight edge, but considering how close it is I wouldn't be surprised to see Brodeur win it by reputation.
Nabokov deserves it this year imo, especially after that late season drive to the playoffs. The one thing about this season for Brodeur is he probably had one of the weakest Devil teams in front of him in a long time and still put up great numbers, so it could probably go either way. But Id personally give it to Nabokov.

its always interesting to look back at entry drafts and see what players teams missed or who got drafted late and became a star player.. but this has to hurt if you're a Sens fan..so just to rub salt in the wound..bwahahaha! :twisted:

I'm not sure who should win. Nabakov had a pretty weak save percentage if you ask me, but he did win a lot of games.
Goalie statistics are pretty meaningless, with the exception of save percentage. Goalies don't get wins, they prevent losses -- and even then, the quality of the defence in front of them has a lot to do with the GAA. Even the save percentage can be unreliable, if you take it over a small sample of games, because all shots are not equal.
I think you have to look to a lot of things that are less concrete, which of course means endless controversy.

Jim Nill is the guy I want Vancouver to get, but he, like Holland, will probably be almost impossible to get out of Detroit.
