Getting at least 50 goals three years in a row, he should be allowed to celebrate, I dont think he went too far with this one. I still think his enthusiasm will carry this team far, its infectious. If they had a real goalie Id call them a Cup contender, though they're not far off.

Of course he didn't overdo it. Rick Tocchet is a douchebag. :? So is Don Cherry, and so is Kevin Bieksa. If these guys had half the talent of Ovechkin, they might actually have the authority to speak on the matter. :rambo: BTW, I hope I'm not the only one who finds it ironic for Don Cherry to call someone else a showboating attention seeker.

The Canucks are only three points back of the Flames, and have a game in hand. Just thought I'd remind all Calgary fans of that. :lol:

That was absolutely classic! Teemu is truly one of the best stars of his generation.

I love Ovechkin I have to say, this guy is amazing. But to put his short career in perspective, right now he has 213 goals, Gretzky had 894, so he has to score 50 or more goals for the next 14 seasons to pass Gretzky..can he do it? Can anyone do it?

894 is alot Im not sure if the game will allow anyone to get that many goals again. But I think he has what it takes to be an all time great, he could be this generations "great one".

Yeah I agree, I don't think anyone will ever be able to touch that record with the way the game is now.. in the 80's the offense had pretty much caught up to the point where it is now, but the goaltending was still lagging severely behind which allowed for a ton of goals. I don't think you'll ever see a lag like that ever again, unless they go to bigger nets or something equally stupid and gimmicky. But I think in 10 or 20 years there will be no question that Ovechkin is this generations Gretzky, or Orr, or Richard.

I thought his celebration was a little ridiculous though. I don't mind seeing him jump around and get excited, like Theo did in the playoffs, but when something is premeditated like that it just becomes a joke.

Man, the Flames are one gigantic black hole of SUCK right now. Typical Flames. Play a great regular season and then stink it up down the stretch and limp into the playoffs. It's embarrassing how easily they've pissed away the division lead. I've seen this song and dance for three straight seasons now. As far as I'm concerned, (and it pains me to no end to say this), but Vancouver totally deserves to win the Northwest. They've worked their asses off over the last few weeks and are playing their best hockey of the season. I'll be surprised if they lose even 3 games down the stretch. Wish I could say the same for Calgary. Good to see Keenan rip into his team during his post-game comments last night. They fully deserve the tongue lashing. That dude is one angry coach right now. I honestly could care less about winning the division anymore. My one hope is that they can work out the kinks and right the ship before the playoffs start, or it's gonna be another long summer in Calgary.
