Ya, but who's gonna want to take on his huge salary!? I think Vancouver is stuck with him for now.
burke would..reunite him with bert
C'mon - Burke ain't that stupid. Well, that's what I said before he gave Bert $8 mil over two years anyway.
Where are all the Antropov bashers?!? Yeah, I know that at some point this season he'll miss 30 games with a sore toe or a blister, but damn, 11 points in 8 games, 6 goals, and +10. Goulet called it.
Cfern, while I still consider myself an Antropov basher, I'm happy to receive this great effort from him at the beginning of the season and I hope he keeps it up. My guess is that it'll be a tummy-ache that derails him.

Opiated, I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but man, you can't tell me this is how you want Linden to go out. A healthy scratch every second game? One shot on goal every second game he plays? I know I bash him all the time, but man, I feel bad that he refuses to accept the writing on the wall.

At least he has more heart than Naslund and the Sedin twins combined. He's not what he used to be, but he's a guy I'd want around the locker room. Show the boys what it takes to be a hockey player.

I love comments like this. The all ubiquitous "heart" justification that the media loves to give to Canadian players who can no longer contribute (or in some cases, never could). And what exactly is that? Do you
seriously think that Trevor Linden shows the Sedins "how to be a hockey player". Daniel Sedin scored 36 goals last season and is on pace for a similar amount this season. Do you know how many times Trevor Linden scored 36 goals? ZERO. Henrik had 81 points last season. Guess how many times Trevor Linden scored more than 80 points? ZERO. And it should be pointed out that Linden's prime years were spent playing in an era where points were a lot easier to come by.
So please, do tell me what exactly Trevor is teaching the twins from the pressbox. And I sure hope you don't say "how to play defensively", since Linden has had
ONE season with a positive plus/minus since the 1996-97 season.
And opiated, for once I am not bashing Linden here. I just find tth_fan's comments laughable. If it wasn't for the Sedins, the 'nucks would be an AHL team. Statements like "they have no heart" kill me.
it is sad to see linden benched every 2nd game, but when he does play, he's not a liability...i'd have him on the ice more than Matt Cooke that's for sure..if the nucks make the playoffs, he'll play really well there, but i'm not sure if that's gonna happen..they lost to the fucking Kings
Five goals allowed in the third period after entering the 3rd with a 3-1 lead, against a team that played the night before.......wow.
Even I'm starting to think that it is going to be a long season.
Um, can we stop having ex-goaltenders as colour commentators? I'm really tired of hearing Greg Millen say "Raycroft had no chance on that goal" and/or trying to say that the puck was deflected.
And one more thing - Paul Maurice - put Vesa Toskala in, and leave him in until his legs fall off. How much more proof do you need that Raycroft is not an NHL goalie?

Yeah I was shocked that Raycroft was in there after the way Toskola played against Florida on Thursday. It was almost comical listening to Millen defend him. Chicago's looking like a good young team this year though, lots of speed.
On another note, good win for the Habs tonight woohooo
wow, i dont watch many games from "out west"
but is it a common thing to hear an "oilers suck oilers suck" chants when they're in Calgary?
ps : that 'beowulf' movie trailer looked amazing

Not at all. You may have noticed a "let's go Oilers" chant preceding it, as well. Also not uncommon.

Especially the Lang goal (the third of the period I believe?). Love how Raycroft watched that puck into the net... that was brilliant.
Didn't see tonight's game... but I don't know whether to be depressed or to take it as a positive that we got a point out of a game with Atlanta.
*Sigh*
did someone tell the Flyers it was 1973, whats with this team and all the dirty hits this year?

Whew, not happy about another blown lead, but we got the two points after a long shootout. Another confidence builder for Price as well, GO HABS!

I don't think that hit was as dirty as everyone is saying it is. He could have eased up when Bergeron turned but thats pretty hard to do when you're going in to finish your check and the guy turns his back at the last minute. I hope Bergeron is ok but he shouldn't have tunred his back like that. When you're going in to grab the puck on the end boards you have to expect contact.
