Not a single person gave them a chance at the trade deadline, and yet they managed to not only make the playoffs but finished as the #6 seed, and were one of the last 6 teams still playing today. In this series too, down 2-0, they never gave up. The future looks bright too, the Rangers are a very young team led by 25 year old Henrik Lundqvist.
But it's still disappointing, especially with the way things ended in Game #5 (i'm sure SJ fans can relate!). They should have won game 2 in Buffalo as well. What a game today, especially that 3rd period, maybe the best period of hockey i've seen all year. Madison Square Garden was electric.
I'm looking forward to Buffalo/Ottawa, it should be a good one.
Too bad for the Rangers. Almost doesn't count unfortunately. As for the Sens/Sabres, I don't think I'll be able to watch any of the games. I can't bring myself to watch it. I need to like at least one aspect of a team or at least one player to be able to watch.
I have Spezza & Heatley in hockey pool, & i'm currently in first place...so that's why i'll be watching

I don't like either of the teams though, i'll be rooting for whoever comes out of the West in the final.
Much love to all the Sabre haters. We appreciate your concern for our team.

As you love yours, we love ours.
That being said, they need to step up their game a ton or it's gonna be an easy sweep for Ottawa. We played pretty bad against them all year and the way the Sens are playing it could be trouble. But as bad as the "NHL hates Buffalo" theory goes, do you think the "Leauge" would want to another Canadian team in the finals for the 3rd staright year?
once again.... GO SHARKS GO!!!! Force a game 7! :jump
Well my predictions didnt pan out, guess Ill have to rethink this..
Buffalo vs. Ottawa
Anaheim vs. Detroit
Id like Ottawa to win but I just dont see it happening, Buffalo always seems to find a way to win no matter what.
Buffalo vs. Anaheim for the Cup, the Ducks are just too hot to handle, and have the best D, that will be the difference.
Anaheim wins!!
OTTAWA VS. ANAHEIM
i'd love to see an original six team in the final but anaheim is strong. also, anaheim has the most Canadian players on a team from all 16 teams this post-season.
I figure it's a Buffalo/Anaheim final, but I'm rooting for Ottawa/Detroit.
God I hate Prong...er...Anaheim.

Although Detroit are the team I'm cheering for now...i think it will be Ottawa-Anaheim final. I was 8/8 in Round 1...and in round 2 i had Ottawa, Anaheim & Detroit right, and well i said i'd go with the Rangers, but in brackets put just b/c i'm a fan, b/c i thought the Sabres would really win the series. So i'm sorta 12/12

For the most part, I think the very few Senators fans on this board (there are a few... maybe two or three) have refrained from posting anything even remotely encouraging, and haven't provided the traditional column doused with the ol' "different team, different year" mentality that has plagued a half-decade of confident predictions with the embarrasing result of ultimate defeat. To be completely honest, I (along with a fair majority of the city I suspect) was expecting similar results of past years (we all, annually, put on a confident face, but this year it wasn't there for me... sort of a 'Mundane Monday' approach... we've been here before, we know what comes next). If I (we, collectively, as Senators fans) had done so, we obviously would have been faced with incredible ridicule from several anti-Senators fanatics (from what I can tell, the anti-Sens to pro-Sens ratio is about 30:1)...
Considering the Senators played, likely, the best two teams in the East (Buffalo aside; also, I picked the Rangers in that series, and it really could have gone either way...Lundqvist is incredible, and I'm quite happy that he is a Vezina candidate) in Pittsburgh, and New Jersey, and handled both teams with relative ease, I don't see the Senators losing against Buffalo.
I'm going to go with Ottawa in Six, Anaheim in Six, and then a "?"... I don't know...
Generally, this time of year, I divert my attention to the Jays, but that really isn't an option right now, because they are sucking the big one...
A question though, perhaps a poll should be created... you Maple Leaf fans, who are you pulling for? In fact, I'll create a poll...
Also, Daniel Alfredsson will be awarded with the Conn Smythe...
i'm 10-2 so far this year with play-off predictions.
So long Saskin! <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=207292&hubname=">http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=207292&hubname=</a><!-- m -->
