Ovechkin is a hotdog, like Jagr. His excessive celebrations are lame, this isn't the NFL, this is hockey, a warrior's sport...at least it used to be.

Sure, take out fighting, make the nets bigger, and let the players dance around like over-exctied little girls every time they score...whoohoo :censored

That's about the dumbest post I've ever read.

The problem isn't Don Cherry. The main problem is that there are millions of inbred hicks who actually buy into what he's saying and agree with him. :nooooo

Cherry talks about "code this and code that" while he's just a hypocritical and mindless moron. He'll defend the Mcsorleys and Simons of the world, guys who actually endanger the lives of others with their actions, and he actually has people who believe in what he says. It's mind boggling. I remember when Cherry was telling people to leave Graham James alone for f*ck sakes. Don Cherry needs to go. He doesn't even believe in half the stuff that he is saying, for one, and secondly, he just doesn't have a clue. He was even trying to fool people into thinking he actually knows a thing or two about baseball tonight. The guy is a joke and is frankly an embarassment to Canada.

BTW, Mr. Cherry, it is not pronounced O-gin-la. Confusedcratch:
The part about Cherry was a joke (he once said the very same thing of himself on Coach's Corner)...if you can't comprehend or take a joke, or catch a reference, perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge something i say as being "dumb"...or is that too dumb for you to wrap your head around too?

I do like him though, he's outspoken, unapollogetic, and never afraid to make an ass out of himself on national television. Aside from that, he's probably forgotten more about hockey than you will ever know, and is to commenting on/analyzing it, what you are to complaining about it in this thread.

i'm stickin' to my :rambo:, the only hot dogs i want to see at a hockey game are at the concession stand, where they belong.

BTW: Inbred Hicks? WTF does that have to do anything...you know you have no arguement when... :thumb:

I don't know that being ready and willing to make an ass of yourself is an admirable trait.
Is to me, most people would wilt under the spotlight after this long.

I hear ya...Even though I love football I can't stand the shit in the endzone and one of the many things I love about hockey is the sportsmanship I don't want to start seeing that crap...I heard a line from a great song once before and I know you all know it.

"If and when you get into the endzone act like you've been there a thousand times before"!
Canadiens fire Carbonneau
This caught me off gaurd Confusedcratch:
Not I, the team hasn't realy plaed well/lived up to expectations as of late...

I'm certain this move is to help light a fire under Kovalev, who for some reason, has a good working relationship with Gainey...
I have to say I was a little surprised and I am as big a Habs fan as anyone...They are saying he was not a good communicator and this is causing the team not to play for him Confusedcratch: Not sure but in Gainey we can trust :thumb:

The players have to play, and they sure haven't been lately. The coach is always the first scapegoat, and the easiest one to fire. It's a shame, Carbo is a great guy. Will Patrick Roy be the guy next year? Just kidding, Just kidding. Hopefully this will shake their asses up though, they've been absolutely pitiful of late. One guy who has been a solid call up I think is Greg Stewart. The kid is a grinder and has brought some life back to the team a little bit, he's actually a friend of a friend of mine so it's nice to see him get a shot.

Stewarts a tough customer, and he's doing the job that Big Georges was actually brought to do! I don't know if firing Guy was the way to go, but then again Gainey seems to be a real player's coach. Somebody who the players really want to play for. They did call up their AHL coach, Don Lever, to be an assistant coach. So maybe Gainey is grooming him for head coach next season? Or maybe Muller or the original ironman Doug Jarvis will take over?

great to hear about Lever being brought in....hopefully this is his opportunity to stick in the big league

He played here for the Niagara Falls Flyer's back in 1970 + 71
I never liked fighters in hockey...Now guys that can fight and play that is my kind of player. Laraque brings nothing to the game but the ability to fight but Stewart he can play to.

Oh man redhill that is a blast from the past the Niagara Falls Flyers...I used to go to their games all the time. Don Lever like they said on TSN will help the young kids he has done a great job with the Bulldogs :thumb:

lol...showing my age

Can still remember when they won the Memorial cup in 68

Actually their goalie (Phil Myre) was billeted and living with our neighbours across the street
Hilarious! A little older than me. It would be guys like Nick Ricci and Mark Laforest later on that were in between the pipes. I grew up very close to N.F. arena and actually still play there on Friday nights.

One more year for that barn and then they are bringing it down long overdue.
