Wow, what an excellent version of Sharks. Thoroughly enjoying the little bonus complation as well.

I have no objections to the SOTD being late again if we get another treat like this.
Wow. That was a sweet song set of the day. Well chosen.
Wow! I love Sharks, but this version takes the cake! And great compilation!! ...yet I don't recall hearing that particular version of T.O. #4! No complaints though :thumb: :thumb: ... nor that version of NOIS!
Very cool stuff. I'm glad I dragged my ass out of bed early(ish) this morning!!

That was a bitchin' setlist ... is the date right on that?? Seven songs from M@W six months before it was released. Must've been a great show.

Too bad my SOTD player is not working for some reason this morning, as I'd love to hear what people are referring to re "compilation" and "T.O. #4".

I generally use Internet Explorer, but sometimes the SOTD player just won't launch. When I use Firefox, there's never a problem, however I had to manually install flash so Firefox could open the player.

Here's the compilation:

Sharks - 1999-12-29 (The Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto, ON)
The Dark Canuck - 2002-07-26 (Somerville Theatre, Boston, MA)
Pigeon Camera - 1992-12-09 (The Logo, Hamburg, DE)
So Hard Done By - 2000-10-27 (Aggie Theatre, Ft. Collins, CO)
Scared - 2004-11-19 (Saddledome, Calgary, AB)
Toronto #4 - 2000-12-05 (Sudbury Arena, Sudbury, ON)
New Orleans Is Sinking - 1996-11-13 (Northlands Coliseum, Edmonton, AB)
Three Pistols - 2002-09-26 (Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton, AB)
Boots Or Hearts - 2004-11-23 (MTS Centre, Winnipeg, MB)
Cordelia - 1993-xx-xx (Vancouver, BC)
Sherpa - 1993-xx-xx (Vancouver, BC)
Bobcaygeon - 2002-02-11
Put It Off - 1996-11-18 (Saskatchewan Place, Saskatoon, SK)
At The Hundredth Meridian - 1996-11-26 (Buffalo, NY)

Thanks very much for these selections MAv :thumb:

Interesting about IE, I didn't know that. . . . mine works fine. What version do you have? Do you have a popUp blocker? I use Firefox as my regular browser and it is WAY better anywaySmile
argh, I wish the player worked here at work! (our wonderful web filters block anything fun, like streaming media!)

I tried to listen at home last night after the game, but only got a song or two in before the g-friend yelled at me to go to sleep........ (having only one bedroom sucks as it's where the computer is! Wink )

Maybe as a solace to the Oilers loss last night I will get lucky and get home today before those songs disappear!
I have the same problem with Safari on my MacBookPro but not with Safari on my Mac G5.

FireFox/DeerPark act the same way.

Interestingly everything worked on both of my systems until Tuesday, June 6; did anything at thehip.com change that day?

Hmmm . . . no, the mechanics for the SOTD have not changed at all. Do you get the same mis-fortune from both the call out on the side bar and the treble clef?

This is a little perplexing, as it's working on both my browsers . . . I haven't checked my mac in a while. I will.

MAv.
On my MacBookPro
Whether I click the treble clef or the side bar callout, I get the same result: the player window opens, the song details show up, but it never starts playing. I can cycle through the songs, change from complete songs to samples, but nothing plays, and the status bar never shows up.

I am running the latest universal Flash plugin, just reinstalled before typing this post.

On my iMac G5
Everything works fine in both browsers.

Ok, that gives me something to check. It seems like the xml isn't loading for somereason. I'm guessing you have tried to clear your cache?
I run the latest IE - the songs always play.
The only problem I have ever run into is on occasion the song will be playing - and when it ends - the yellow line does not reach the end of the cycle - so the next song does not automatically start.
It happened about three times that I remember since SOTD started.

Using IEv6. There's no evidence as to why it happens (as far as I can tell)...somedays it works, somedays it doesn't, sometimes not in the morning, but it works in the afternoon. I have a pop-up blocker, but I configured it for pop-ups from thehip.com, and haven't changed any settings since the SOTD began)

It's not a huge problem for me, as I said I just open Firefox, and I'm good to go. (and yes I realize that Firefox is the superior browser, but it's just out of habit that I generally surf with IE.)

This might happen if a make a change and screw up the song file name - I did this last night for one song, but i usually catch it in a few moinutes as I always listen to a new playlist from start to finish.

I have some people testing this popUp thing, but I am really not sure why it is happening. There is no rhyme or reason as far as I can tell and I have never experienced this and I check/listen to it a couple of times a day.

One more thing on my list.
