I know I've heard him do this rant before but can't remeber which boot. Washington maybe? I'd have to go through all of my boots to find it but being at work won't help right now. Wow, I guess that really was a watse of a post. Sorry
he definitely does this at high sierra
So... did Gord lift some lines from this folk song for Fire In The Hole?
checked FITH on my 1995-07-01 High Sierra CDR's

Gord rants the same lines Chris quoted but a bit quicker. Robby & Johnny just finish fading out on Nautical when Gord hits the 'turn your laterns low' line. Plus Johnny starts FITH's drums just as Gord hits the final line 'but there ain't gonna be a fire in the hole'

The SOTD doesn't have Nautical fading out at the start and Johnny starts FITH's drum-beat when Gord finishes the final line.
Thanks MAv for Ahead By A Century's debut in the Song Of The Day :thumb:
Great version of ABAC today, thanks MAv. This song is always great live. The extended jam at the end is always pretty awesome especially when Gord throws in other lyrics.
Nice to hear Titanic make the cut!
I like it...I like it alot!
High Sierra, the best show I've seen. Would be nice to see some of that in the mix for song of the day.
Titanic was such a great treat today...even when gord f'd up the bridge...the sound is simply awesome. I pray to everything holy that one day they release these shows to purchase.
Hmm...no love for Titanic Terrarium? Definitely one of my longtime favorites, and one which has gained even more meaning for me of late....

But listening to this version from Halifax....and i struggle to even debate it with myself, let alone breathe a word of it aloud....but...

....could it possibly be that Gord is just a wee wee bit off key here?? Confusedhock: *GASP*

I want to blame it on some technical snafu, like some mysterious tape-speed synchronization issue, but... can it be that GD is just...somehow...off on this one?? Say it aint so!
Very Beautiful

He sounds pretty strained at some points, for sure. I'm definitely not one to judge if he's off-key, though. Listening back to back with the album version I can't notice it.

terr-aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrr-ium

This is one of my favorite songs-of-the day so far. I totally dig the intro on this version.
I didn't care for TT when I first heard it on CD or in concert back in 1995. But at the HOB in Los Angeles in 1996 on the Henhouse Tour it really hit me hard. I remember they had green lights that looked like laser beams slowing going back and forth across the stage. The kicker was in the middle of the song when Johnny drops in and the pace quickens a bit. It seemed much more pronounced than the studio version and I have loved it ever since.

I really like this version too, especially the intro, but Gord's 'hiccup' in the middle of the song kind of makes it disjointed a bit and therefore doesn't carry the full impact of the tempo change that I've heard in more recent performances. Still a nice treat to have up for the entire weekend...
Great version of Poets! Very clear and "thundering" drums. And, this versions sounds a little slower than typical! Cool!
The Gorge countdown begins --- MAv, I am so glad you started the song of the day. See you soon!!!!
