My head just exploded at the thought, that would have to be the ultimate fan prize wouldn't it?

Great stuff! It's amazing that it has been 6 years, but I still remember this show.

I'm playing it right now, but it seems that it's Springtime in Vienna instead of Poets......

Typo. It's Poets. Springtime was up for two minutes. You guys are quickSmile

:thumb:
Hey MAv, it was actually up for 4:35... Sad

ok, I didn't have my stop watch outSmile

Absolutely. I imagine there would be some stipulations put on by the band (no Fiddler's, the band has the right to veto any suggestion, etc.) but that would just rock!

...oh it's fun to fantasize! :jump
didn't 54-40 do something like that a while back...I remember that it was online, and fans got to vote for what songs would be played at each show...something like that....obviously the hip would get veto power, but it'd be awesome if they set up some kind of "fan chosen" setlist..similar to Yer Favourites I guess.....

I do recall something like that happening before the show in Kingston. I don't remember the exact details but I think a poll happened where everyone voted for the song they wanted to hear and then when the hip played, the actually acknowledged that the song was requested...

Someone help me out with better details than that?
When R.E.M did their 2000 Greatest Hits tour, they had it set up that you could email a song suggestion to the band the day of the show. They would go through them all and pick a few based on popularity.

Another pretty cool idea!! Of course, the day of would never work for the Hip because that wouldn't give Gord enough time to re-learn lyrics to any obscure songs that were requested.
Hey Mav,

If you stumble on any good versions of Lake Fever from 98/99, that would make a sick song of the day, just thought I'd point that out. 8)

If I remember correctly, for the 2004 Across the Causeway show in Kingston, someone here started a thread in which everybody named 3 songs they would like to hear at that show. Before the show, the person who started the thread compiled everybody's choices, and "Escape Is At Hand" got the most votes. The Hip played it that night in one of the encores. It was only 1 of 2 times they played it live in 2004......

Thanks Scott!

I knew that it was one of Escape, Locked or Looking that was played but I so often get them mixed up (maybe it is their long song-names??)

Well at least we know it could happen again...
After searching around for a few minutes, here's the original thread re: vote for a song at Kingston:

I was especially pleased, as I at the show, and my first vote was for Escape :thumb:
Time for a hip confession....
not EVERY night,
but for a few nights a week, I listen to hip songs in a setlist-esque order, and right them down and date them, just for the hell of it. At first I was terrible at writing setlists, but then I became better and better
Simply balancing hits with a semi-rarity or two along with a healthy dosage of the current album being supported. Maybe I'll post an example of a believable one. I'll run upstairs and get one
They used to be better, when there WAS an album to support. Ah well, here's a YF supported setlist (with one or two songs not on YF)

scar
gift
twist
opiated
music
meridian
courage
abac
eldorado
poets
looking
no threat
bobc
nautical
new maybe
jungle
little bones
----------
fever
long
new orleans

I've written better ones
 Maybe i'll post an example of an IBE supported one later.
I know, you're all shaking with anticipation.

And yes... I do have a life.

(its not to interesting though  )
Mmmm..... Wheat Kings from the Metro Centre, Winnipeg, MB 11/23/2004.

This song is always great!
