FYI - I believe this was preformed live in Kingston as a trubute to the hip. With each preformer takinga different song. Around the time of the Music Hall of Fame etc.

cool, when was this? what other performers and what hip songs did they cover?
sean.bonner Wrote:The SOTD Today is a studio version of Fully Completely... but its a wee bit different .
I suggest heading over to thehip.com and to check this one out.

I do not believe this is the same show, but I think this video adds to the feeling of his version:

Great SOTD...never heard this cover...very excellent.

"Johnny Appleseed"
-Joe Strummer

Lord, there goes Johnny Appleseed
He might pass by in the hour of need
There's a lot of souls
Ain't drinking from no well locked in a factory

Hey - look there goes
Hey - look there goes
If you're after getting the honey - hey
Then you don't go killing all the bees

Lord, there goes Martin Luther King
Notice how the door closes when the chimes of freedom ring
I hear what you're saying, I hear what he's saying
Is what was true down along the soul

Hey - I hear what you're saying
Hey - I hear what he's saying
If you're after getting the honey - hey
Then you don't go killing all the bees

What the people are saying
And we know every road - go, go
What the people are saying
There ain't no berries on the trees

Let the summertime sun
Fall on the apple - fall on the apple

Lord, there goes a Buick forty-nine
Black sheep of the angels riding, riding down the line
We think there is a soul, we don't know
That soul is hard to find

Hey - down along the road
Hey - down along the road
If you're after getting the honey
Then you don't go killing all the bees

Hey - it's what the people are saying
It's what the people are saying
Hey - there ain't no berries on the trees
Hey - that's what the people are saying, no berries on the trees
You're checking out the honey, baby
You had to go killin' all the bees
Awesome! One of my all-time favourite Strummer tunes.

I've been waiting for Johnny Appleseed. Thanx for this one!
Thanks for the song of the day today, MAv...one of the absolute highlights of my 10 times seeing the Hip...seeing them cover St. Bob from ten feet away. Ironically ten feet to the right from where I'd seen Bob do an awful version of that same song only 3 months beforehand. So it goes.

Hmm, for the past week all I have been getting for the SOTD is Goodnight Josephine. Am I doing something wrong?
Dunno, I hit the "listen to music" button at the top right, and that came up last night. Can't see what it is now, because I always get some goofy "the maximum number of users has been reached" error here at the bureau.

That's all that I get as well... but it says it is on my playlist. And my playlist is empty.
Did we ever figure out what happened here? Because now I get the goodnight josephine, too. But I guarantee you the "like a rolling stone" from ottawa was indeed there...

I caught Like a Rolling Stone too before it reverted back to Josephine. On Dec. 31st, I also heard Escape Is At Hand from San Francisco '07, but since then it has been Josephine.

HEy all, SOTD hasn' exactly been up to snuff lately. It shall resume. Sorry for the musical interlude.

I went away and did not turn my coomputer on for several days - which is the first time in years that I have done that and I neglegted to populate music for a while. On it and should be back to normal.
