Thanks MAv for great version of Daredevil w/ Hiccups. :thumb:
MAv, another amazing choice...these shows from 96 are so awesome...I'd love to get a couple of them released (hint...hint)... and for a request, may I humbly suggest either impossibilium or inch an hour....

ok, who has some history of Hiccups?

After figuring out what ya'll were talking about, I went through my records and found that I had lyrics, but no info.

So, what do you guys know about Hiccups? I've been listening to it for a while now not knowing what it was . . . I recieved it as Daredevil with Jam intro, but obviously there is more to it.

Also, I have to admit, TTH played two nights in Vancouver and I'm not sure if this is from the first night or the second. I put the setlist to the first night, but am looking for confirmation as to what night this version was played. . .

Thanks.

MAv.

Hiccups

There was a chokin' dust in the air
Your heart went out of sync with your lungs
Them hiccups out of nowhere
The kind that just
Come and come
There was a palpable interest
And it kind of grew from there
Everyone had opinions
They came flying in from everywhere
Take a drink and stand on your head
Plug your nose and count backwards from 10
And push your fingers into your ears
Until your eyes well up in tears
The room fell silent, they all strained to hear
They came from all sides and down through the years
And just then out of nowhere
Your hiccups disappear

MAv, I don't have any info on Hiccups, other than that's what everyone here has called the Daredevil intro.

Also, I believe the Hip played 3 nights in Vancouver (8th-10th)..unfortunately I'm moving this weekend, and all my stuff is packed up, so I can't confirm the exact show until I get unpacked in the new place.

Yes, you're right. Three nights. Third night Daredevil was an encore, so perhaps this version is from that night?
Taken from Museum After Dark:

Quote:Hiccups: Originated out of the Daredevil Reprise. It was often played as its own song as the Henhouse tour progressed, though it still always preceded "Daredevil."

and

Quote:Daredevil Reprise: Day For Night outtake, a slow, moody and melodic version of "Daredevil." An instrumental version was often played before "Daredevil." It was popular during the 2000 tour and made a return in 2004. Sometimes confused with "Hiccups," which later preceded "Daredevil" on some Henhouse gigs.

I don't know much more than that. Maybe some of the longstanding Hipbase posters will know more...
I do not know the story behind Hiccups, though during the recording you can hear someone say, "This is awesome." I was thinking the same thing to myself.

A-1 choice today, MAv.
Yes they played 3 nights, I was there for the first 2 shows, but couldn't tell you from which night this version was from.

I first remember seeing/hearing an extended intro to Daredevil in Tucson, AZ on 5/11/95 (Day for Night Tour). I don't believe the words to Hiccups were in place yet, but they for sure started the song with a 2 - 3 minute jam before kicking into Daredevil. I remember thinking it sounded like they were playing the "end" of Daredevil in the beginning of the song (both jams sounded the same). When they dropped into the actual song Daredevil I was thoroughly confused, but it sounded great.
sweet!! i was at all 3 shows, and if i remember correctly is this the night they tried to play titanic, but gord just couldn't do it and they gave up??
That was an INCREDIBLE version of IOD today! Loved it!

Thanks MAv!

MAv, you weren't kidding! Thanks again :thumb:
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

This IOD version rocks almost as hard as you do Mav.

Take it easy.

<homer>Mmmm ... IOD ... Orbit Room 2004 (drools down chin)</homer>

Yet another SotD I attended. One note - they played Flamenco (not listed on setlist posted).
This is a great version of Locked. Why did they cut it from LBU?
