Quote:The Song of the Day reverts back to the default song at Midnight EST (which I guess is currently '1979'). It is changed daily, (and I presume changed manually).
Yeah, that's what I was beginning to suspect. I don't think I always go after midnight, but it is completely possible. I'll pay more attention over the next few days and see if I'm just crazy.
I have The Luxury today.

Okay, me too. Sweet. I'll have to make more of an effort to go during the day, then.

Yeah, this is pretty awesome.
What's Gord singing at the beginning of the track? I can't tell if it's a rant or a Counting Crows song...
I love how at the end of Put It Off, they fade out and I assume are trying to figure out how to segue back into NOIS (with Gord even singing some Springtime in Vienna lyrics!), but instead just segue right back into Put It Off's reprise. Then Gord sings the '
hey there's a lightbulb' lyrics over Put it Off and the music for NOIS doesn't kick in until the usual '
hands in the river' part. :thumb:
Also, I can't help but wonder what percentage of songs in the mid to late nineties made their first appearance in the middle of NOIS!
quite a lot of songs/rants inside of NOIS became songs...
nautical, 50 mc, meridian, locked, apartment song, escape is at hand, sherpa, poets and almost all of the coke machine glow songs http://web.archive.org/web/200210080009 ... boots.html
this website shows all of them as well as the hipmuseum
and the springtime in vienna lyrics were part of "Past..."
lyrics from that jam also ended up in 700ft and Daddy
Hey Mav,
You make the work day go by much easier w/ "Song of the Day", plus our usual playlists. Thank you for giving us the goods to listen to.
The lads and I were wondering if you are able to put up the live performance of Montreal from Dec 7, 2000 (w/Chris Brown & Kate Fenner). It's such a great song, though touching on a horrible subject matter. I remember hearing an audience recording of it, and would love to hear the 'real deal'... if possible.
Cheers mate.

Don't have that one in my collection, sorry . . .
Epic SOTD today! I think I've listened to it 4 times already. Nothing like good ol' Sherpa in the wintertime.
I remember this from a couple of years ago - and it still rocks today
1996-06-13 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Daredevil
Sherpa
Locked In The Trunk Of A Car
Little Bones
wow....nice....a 4 song cavalcade of Hipness!!! Nice mix on those too!! :thumb:
So I walked into one of my local restaurants on the weekend - called Leslie Jones, in Toronto. The owner, George, knows I work with the Hip. So he buys a cd - a bootleg mix burned CD - at a garage sale called "Alive From the Hip" for 1$.
Well I'll be if I don't find it in the pile and see show dates from 1991 - 1993. Today's SOTD is from this CD. I don't know what show it is from - even though it currently says Markham fairgrounds. Anyway, hoping somebody might know what show it was from. . . .

I think your date may be right.
1993 is the summer they played alot of NOIS>Nautical>NOIS among other interludes.
Was this released as a B-Side single maybe? Or was that NOIS>Nautical>Fire In The Hole>NOIS ??
