Summiteer Wrote:Tthip Wrote:MAverick Wrote:Today's SOTD is from this CD. I don't know what show it is from - even though it currently says Markham fairgrounds. Anyway, hoping somebody might know what show it was from. . . .
I think your date may be right.
1993 is the summer they played alot of NOIS>Nautical>NOIS among other interludes.
Was this released as a B-Side single maybe? Or was that NOIS>Nautical>Fire In The Hole>NOIS ??
Yes, Bside single Nautical Disaster, in the liner notes it doesn't give the place or date,it just says somwhere ARA 93, or something like that, i have that cd boxed up, what else is on that cd MAv?
That's the right single, but I'm fairly sure it isn't either of the Markham shows.

This version contains no Fire in The Hole.
If I remember correctly, no one was ever able to place the show from this version on the single.

That version of New Orleans is epic though. Arguably it doesn't contain much of Nautical Disaster either. The music is kind of there and obviously there is a disaster in the water theme to the rant... but that rant is incredible. Containing bits of Daniel Lanlois' "The Maker" as well as "The Luxury" and "If You Lived Here" the thing totally goes off the rails when Gord starts telling the story of a lighthouse keeper blowing a nuclear submarine out of the water with a torpedo.
Compared to the summer tour, with pretty much a fully-formed Nautical Disaster in the mix, similar to yesterday's song of the day, it's pretty much nothing like it. Just goes to show how quickly a song can change from genesis to near completion.
Cheers,
Pat

You think you'll be putting up any of those for SOTD? Can anyone tell me if those horseshoe songs are in circulation? I'm thinking the others are in circulation

This CD sounds so familiar.
I'll have to check when I get home, but I think I have it.

I stopped checking thehip.com because I didn't think they've been doing SotD anymore (it's been So Hard Done By for 3 months now or something) but I just checked hipbase.com's front page and it's showing a bunch of awesome SotD's... wondering where these ones are found?

Same place as it is always found. Clear your history/cache/cookies.
Should be able to load the new ones now.

So Hard Done By seems to be the default song now.
The SOTD has been updated pretty much every day for awhile now.
It just happens at odd times during the day. If you check before it is updated you will see SHDB.
Todays is a beaut...
