After a few more spins, I like it more. I now realize what the album isn't, and what it is.

What it isn't is cold beer on a warm, sunny day by the BBQ and pool.

What it is is a scotch on the rocks in a darkened, yet moonlit room, sitting in a comfy chair, in muted sedation.



Mellow is good. I can't see myself listening to this in order to get pumped up to play hockey, but I see myself listening to this as I read a good book......

I'm not averse to musical change. I'm glad they went from a good bar band to what we heard on Day for Night and Fully Completely and Phantom Power, but this isn't progression. It's merely change which sounds like what Manic Street Preachers and other alt rock bands in Britain did THIRTEEN YEARS AGO, not really progression.

Also, why Bob Rock? All his sh-t is way too poppy and glossy.

I'm disappointed. I can see it growing on me, but I'm still a bit let down.

Kinda funny- I feel the same way, except "Coffee Girl" is my least favorite on the disc.

I certainly wouldn't rank this up with my favorite Hip albums, but I don't hate it, either. I was taken back by just how mellow it is.

I like'em. I'm not sure why. But those jewel cases to me seem cheap and...idunno there's no..."feeling"..there. The soft covers make me feel like I have a miniature vinyl.

It is ecofriendly...WC is printed on recycled paper and, if you notice, the plastic under the WATS disc says that it is made from 100% recycled materials.

I wish the U.S. CD had the same packaging as the Canadian. Bought it last night. Contains all the lyrics and pics, but here we have non-recyclable paper and a standard jewel case. Of course, it's also a different label.....Rounder/Zoe, not Universal. I much prefer digipacks.

Totally loving the music though. Awesome album. Feels like a whole new start...

Good analogy. The more I think about it, I believe this is simply the cd the band WANTED to make with the producer they WANTED. Who knows, maybe the next album might be a punk or bar rock or something... All I know is these guys are still the same 5 dudes being creative and taking risks...GOTTA LOVE IT.... I am along for the ride!! :thumb:

Anybody else have troubles removing the disc from the CD package? I spent nearly 10 agonizing minutes in a panic, trying to pry the disc off of the plastic holder, praying that the thing would not snap!

Same problem for me... but I didn't have 10 minutes of effort in me. I have three copies so I just reefed on it after about a minute!

I think I can finally rank my favourite and least favourite songs on the album.

Favourite:
Morning Moon and Country Day (close tie)

Least Favourite:
Coffee Girl (?, this changes often)

haha, yeah me too, I was worried it would snap.

Im bummed i couldnt get this in a jewel-case, i understand the environmental ascpects of it, but if the other 4-500 albums of mine were all digi-paks i probably wouldnt care. I have every Hip album in plastic jewel case, except Phantom Power, I dont think it exists.

im sure it will turn up in plastic at stores at some point, same thing happened with death magnetic.

I suppose the day will come when everything is digital, if it helps the environment its all good. I just wish they would have thought of these years ago.

Me too, but i was excited in the theatre so I pulled on every which direction gently till it popped out. I then opened my computer and immediately ripped it and then go to listen to it only to be stopped by my girlfriend saying "Just wait for the damn show in 5 minutes, you'll hear the songs later!!!"

Ya I was afraid It was gunna snap but I just yanked it out I was too excited to listen... cds are stronger than you think.

I think your confusing technology with originality. Besides, those cats were stealing their sound from the 1970"s in the first place.

I pretty much like all of the tracks except Coffee Girl and Frozen in My Tracks.

Her point was that it was better to hear them live first then in a frantic/excited state with like 5 minutes before it starts.
