I like many, many things better than IAGLIYDW.
How come?
I don't think it's up there yet with IAGLIYDW for "Hip Glory", but I knew I was iffy after my first listen of Good Life. You have to admit, it was different than anything the Hip had released up to that point.

Susan. Or Josephine.
Or Ruby.
Or Bonner.
I agree that the sounds sounds absoluetely crisp, clean and obviously explores something new for the Hip. Im glad they are keeping up with change in the music industry and are still putting cd's out there! That takes alot of courage, and i also think the guys sound very confident and tight as a band. I hope they make music til they can't anymore, just like everybody else! They make me proud to be canadian.
Just listened to the song again. Now I'm getting a real Wilco/Jeff Tweedy vibe from the tune, mixed with a bit of Ron Sexsmith.
I think this is pretty different from a lot of stuff in the current "popular" music industry, and I like that. While I liked In View and World Container, I thought it tried really hard to be trendy and popular, and I like that, based on Morning Moon, they aren't trying to do that this time around. I get a real nostalgic feel from this song, which sort of reminds me of earlier hip, but its still very different than the old stuff. One thing's for sure, I'm damn excited to hear the rest of the album.

I agree with you on the fact that it reminds me too of earlier Hip as well, also the bit we got to hear of them at the Bathouse recordings points in that direction while yes still different. What gets me pumped is when they say there will be something for everyone ranging from levity and light to melancholy and anger.
In the suburbs of Detroit....I have a slight Molson buzz....just got done with a long and busy week...and I hop on here and low and behold the new tune... Honestly, who am I to say this but....this is one HELL of a song. I am nearly jumping out of my computer chair. Our beloved Hip have gradtuated to the next level with this.....please let the rest of the album hold up to this little gem of a song. Forget the production, forget its a mellow single (yes finally)...Morning Moon is the sweetest and most touching thing from the band yet...WOW.
I wasn't sure if this was going to be released as the first single from the new album. Traditionally the "New Album News" e-mail has indicated the first single, and it's release date to radio. But given that it is streaming on their website, and I've already heard it on two radio stations in Ottawa, I'm going to assume it is the first single.
Now don't get me wrong, I like the new song. It's what I would describe as a comforting and pleasant rock-country twang rendition of one's devoted attempt at cleansing the psyche and droopy mentality existing from the infectious economic and industrial shutdown at it's beginning while being mirrored by the accompanying persistent dire media reporting (minor chords and Gord Downie's voice have that effect; my interpretation of the song is probably far from accurate).
I was, though, personally hoping for a more upbeat rocker to hit the radio first.
The more i listen to this fucking awesome song, the more it reminds me of Up To Here, all grown up with a beard and kids.
I wish I knew the boys well enough to be able to tell them how much I like this song. It's something that deserves a handshake and a smile.
First time listening to MM drunk, and I love the outro. The vocals and the repetition is perfect IMO. It's one of those songs that you can feel, that makes you feel, it moves you, it's why I listen to music. I'm very excited to hear the rest of the album.
Jim Bryson on keyboards for the tour, which will prove to be a very cool touch.

Is that speculation or official? Did he also contribute to the album?
