After another listen I like it more, but I really wish there were less strings all over everything. They're nice for some emphasis here or there but it's pretty excessive.
So the whole album has leaked and people are posting about it here.......
anyone else think the depression suite would have been a more fitting closer?
It's taking a few listens, but I'm getting into this album. As a first impression, I prefer the mellow tunes opposed to the heavier tracks. It's refreshing to hear Gord sing. (although I am a huge fan of IBE)

I'm with you too.

When Music@Work was leaked, I drove around for a month with a bootlegged *cassette* of it in my car (that my brother made for me off his CD download of the leaked version) and would only allow myself to listen to My Music at Work and the opening bit of Tiger the Lion (cuz I forgot to hit "eject" one day).

IVL never seemed to leak, did it? I remember going to HMV a couple days before it was officially released and they had it on the listening posts, so i listened to IAGLIYDW and bits and pieces of some others, then I felt dirty and left.

I can't remember any leak storys about IBE, but with World Container, when they streamed it on the website, I only allowed myself to listen to In View (yech) because it was in wide-release already, and Rink and Fly, because I had heard them in concert the summer before.

So, I'll continue the trend of holding out, or at least only listening to Morning Moon and Love is a First if I stumble across it.

Everyone else -- enjoy and I'll catch up with you on April 7.

i'm surprised we dont have anyone complaining of the ethics of downloading the record after an obvious gaffe by someone that was trusted. All this support for mav and all that he's done and then this. I'm a little surprised by all of the excitement without anyone speaking out against it. I guess those days are over? Say what you want about it being okay because all of us will buy the record anyway. I guarantee there are those who are lurking that will pick it up free and never spend a nickel. I dont have a strong opinion either way but wondered if anyone out there sees anything wrong with this?

I could help you stumble in the right direction my friend  muahahahahaha

I was a little pissed for the band that it was publicly available this weekend, but it was almost inevitable since some critics got a copy 6 weeks ago and it was on ebay 4 weeks ago. I was actually surprised it took so long to go public.

Except true fans, no one buys CD's anymore. And all these "die hards" on Hipbase can only prove their thanks to the band by also purchasing it.
I don't really get the waiting thing anymore. Sure, if it was a really low-quality rip I could understand it, but once the music is out there I just want to hear it, I don't care if it isn't officially released. I've paid for this album twice over already so I don't feel remotely guilty about it. Then again, I don't feel remotely guilty about all the other albums I've downloaded without purchasing either. I think the ease of acquiring free media has desensitized me to the ethical dilemma involved. Also I'm a poor grad student, so what am I supposed to do? I go to shows and support the artists when I can, and that's enough for me these days.

what ethical dilemma? what are ethics? what's a dilemma? what's this funny symbol at the end of all my sentences?

I'm against stealing.

But then the logical side of me kicks in and says, "I've bought a copy with one of my Massey tickets. I bought another with the Cineplex deal. And I bought it on iTunes to get Hush. And I bought a Telus phone to get Skeleton Park. And I preordered on Amazon to get the family pack.*"

* I didn't do all of these things, but there sure are a lot of options...
No offense dude, but that's kinda dumb (and so are you? haha j/k), that's seriously kind of a waste of money, and i'm sure with all of the stuff you've bought over the years, you've more than earned a freebie, but hey, kudos to you i guess, i definately would not be doing the same...unless i had a bunch of money and i didn't know what to do with it.
I hate playing the moral relativist, but i've already paid for my pre-order of the physical CD, so what's the difference? I'm going to rip it to my computer about 5 minutes after I open the CD in FLAC anyway (like I have with all their other albums).

I am going to wait this one out too – getting a little older and a wee bit more patient I guess

You didn't read my fine print...
