After one full listen to the CD – wow fantastic much better then World Container how it rates with the others - well a few more listens and time will tell – but I know I appreciate the album more having seen and heard some of the songs from the Bathouse show last night
Well, I won't go into a critical review, as i lack the listening time and intelligence for one, and I will preface this with saying I've just had only one listen (I was one of hte ones who waited for the CD to come out) and I'm at work, so lots of interruptions......
Maybe it will grow on me, but for some reason, nothing grabs me. Maybe it's because its so mellow, maybe it's because I can't really peruse the lyrics while listening, maybe I need a glass of sctoch.... but I dunno.
I definately feel the "slickness" of the production, what with the strings, "double Gord", and the overall feel of it all.... definately doesn't feel "live off the floor" like say, DFN does for me.
I am not going to say "love it, or hate it" yet, but just wanted to share my first impressions and see if maybe I'm the only one?
you are not alone... i was not impressed... way to slick and nothing tugged at my heart...... at first... give it a few times all the way thru and then drop it for a day... you will miss it... it will call to you. you cant get it out of your head,,, shuffle it in with you hip on you i pod playlist... its awesome... last recluse is killer... give her a chance :thumb:
Wow, the first listen to "The Depression Suite" brought tears to my eyes.
6th listen through, this album has dug it's jaws deeply into my skull.

It's all I've listened to so far (LIAF and MM aside). I caved and bought it off iTunes as I wait for the disc to arrive in the mail. I cried listening to The Rock. "Are you going through somethin'? Well I am too." It's beautiful. Love it, love it.

I am never (later years) in love with any album of any artist on the 1st run through....including this one. But I can't put this down by the 8-10th go around, and I am thinking some of this material is going to be fantastic live. I also mixed it with PP-WC on the play list, and hit shuffle. It is great
Overall, I like it. Someone a few posts up noted how nothing overly jumped out at him, to which I agree. I enjoy the mellow feel, I don't mind the lyrics, yet I haven't burned them into my ears or anything. Over time I'm hoping this album will grow on me.
Thumbs up, with caution and patience.

Songs That Are Growing On Me: Coffee Girl, The Depression Suite, Country Day
Songs That I'm Expecting To Grow On Me: Speed River, Queen of the Furrows, The Exact Feeling
Songs That I Just Don't Care For: Now That Struggle Has A Name
At first listen, the CD kinda sucked. But I realized that after Honey Please that it's going to grow on me. I'll continue to listen to it because I know that I'll love Coffee Girl, The Depression Suite and Country Day soon, and I'm hoping the other 4 songs will be better. The Last Recluse is a great song, I love the lyrics. Morning Moon and Love is a First were two great advertising tracks.
It's great that the boards are all aglow with many active threads again...
