I have worked at Chuck E. Cheese's before...as the arcade technician/dress up and dance like an idiot
does that count?
robert goulet Wrote:Do you now, or have you ever worked at an Amusement Park??

Man, tact. come on now.

Don't sweat it. Goulet was making a joke about something that happened long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

Welcome. Thanks for sharing. Stick around as we're a good bunch of people.

It sounds a bit too arrogant for me just to say that I'm a good guy.

Not what I was hoping for...oh well...partial credit.

Cool pic!! Welcome to the Base!!
Phantom51 Wrote:This one keeps growing on me, the last two went from good at the start to not very good after a few listening. This is more like Hip albums earlier in their career, first couple of times through I wasn't sure, then it starts to grow. This is growing like crazy.

Yup, this one's a grower for sure. On my first listen I wasn't too sure about the strings and the layered instruments, but after about a dozen spins, I was completely sold. This record is unlike anything they've ever done before, and I still stand by my opinion that it's the boldest and bravest thing they've ever recorded. It just keeps getting better each time I hear it. From a songwriting standpoint, it just might be their best material since Phantom Power. I can't wait to get the official CD so I can hear it with better sound quality.

Same here. I just listened to it again tonight while I was walking the dog and I like it more than before. When I first heard the 30 second samples I thought I was going to hate it. When I first heard the album I didn't mind it but wasn't sold. Now I can't get enough of it! Can't wait to hear it on vinyl!!! That could be the point of no return.
K so I have a question..
If we pre-orderd the album on iTunes we get Hush?
How do we get Skeleton Park? I dont get why telus has anything to do with it??
Thanks.
thanks for the welcome everybody Smile
I'm sure I will fit in here just fine 8)
My friend is an old school hip fan and loves the old gritty riff with gord screaming out (locked, etc).. So over the years hes been trying hard to convince me that the Hip suck now.

This record has me baffled. It is clearly the best work they've ever done, but it is so far from where they came from.

Its hard to compare it to anything. Gord is very disciplined in his vocals, sticking to the melody and not needing a dictionary to enjoy the music. At first i thought, oh, theyre just learning to write pop songs for the radio, due to bob rocks influence. But I love this current formula. So edible!!!! so easy to listen to.

Yeah, theres a ton of production layers on there, choral back up vocals, keys, strings, etc... its a bit too polished than i had hoped, but i can get past that. coffee girl is great! morning moon is great. already getting lots of airplay on the boston independant stations. So is it a bad thing that they are trying to be more listener-friendly?
This sucks. It seems like everone has downloaded the new Hip album illegally. I have got to call bullshit on that. Go ahead and justify yourselves all you want but your nothing more than a bunch of thieves.
Hey NegPhil — if you're going to any of the Massey Hall shows, please don't bring your soapbox — it's a real inconvenience to those directly behind you.

You forgot to mention the fact that we're also all inferior to you. Teach me the way, oh wise one.
