I dont think I could bring myself to download it before listening to it on album. I even pre-orderd the album on iTunes for some reason, but will still give its first through and through listen on album.

But with those previee 10 second tracks I fell into, I think Speed River sounds soooo cooool!

WHICH REMINDS ME JOEL PLASKETTS NEW TRIPLE ALBUM IS OUT TODAY- OFF TO HMV
ttyl hip fans

Wait, what? Triple album?

Ya! Its called "Three"!
It has 3 albums and alot of the songs are triple named, such as "Through&Through&Through", "Wait, Wait, Wait", "Rewinf, Rewind, Rewind"... I jsut got home with it, so far its a great album!

When I first read your post I was thinking, "why is this guy being an asshole, I know what a triple album is" then I realized it is all true. Is it just me or can you see how I would mis-interpret your response as a typical, snarky internet forum reply.

I lol'ed when I realized you were serious.

I'll be heading out to HMV shortly to pick up a copy myself. It will keep me distracted for the next two weeks until WATS comes out. And fyi we've been discussing it here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13543

In my opinion,
Of recent albums, IVL, IBE are better

hahahahaha ya I see what you mean..its the album name lol. What a good album though.
First off, wow.

Morning Moon: Interesting song but I just can't get into it. Love the strings.

Honey, Please: Seems kind of light. In View equivalent with better lyrics.

The Last Recluse: some of the most powerful vocals from Gord I've ever heard and my second favorite song on the album.

Now The Struggle Has A Name: Not my cup of tea, still listenable.

The Depression Suite: Glorious. Makes 9 minutes seem like three.

The Exact Feeling: Weakest song on the album. Not bad, just generic.

Queen of the Furrows: Holy solo, batman! Came out of nowhere.

Speed River: Nice song, smooth. Sounds kind of Phantom Power-esque.

Frozen in my Tracks: Freaks me out. Strangest song since Tiger the Lion. Love it to death.

Love is a First: Radio-friendly, nice beat. Good rant.

Country Day: If this was sadly the last album it couldn't close much better than this.
What's with the "The Exact Feeling" clownin'? It's a great song.

Agreed, but my gut tells me they got one more album to make. Thats me not knowing what their contractual obligations are, but I dont think this is the last one.
Stop talking this madness...Gord is only 45, guys like Bono are still going and he is 49 with no talk of a last album yet. Let's hope they keep playing and producing into their 50's. :thumb:
I've given it multiple listens now, and I'm very, very disappointed. I really want to like it, especially after reading all of the glowing reviews here, but this easily settles to the bottom of my Hip Album Rankings. I hope it grows on me, but I'm doubtful. I really can't stand the strings. It ruins the songs.

However, I am looking forward to hearing these songs live at all three Calgary shows.

I didn't like the strings at all on my first couple of listens, but now I've gotten used to them and they don't bother me at all...except maybe on Country Day. On The Depression Suite, the strings actually compliment the song quite nicely in my opinion. I just think the songwriting is so incredibly strong on this album that it doesn't really matter to me what kind of production the tunes are dressed up with. Right now I'd rank this album pretty high up on my list, right behind Day for Night and Phantom Power.

You seriously like World Container better? You suck.

Dude, where have you been around here lately?

Good to hear from you.
Gord said in an interview before that they would continue to make music indefinitely, health permitting. I'm fairly certain that the interview was relatively recent, around the world container launch. So unless there has been news to the contrary, there is no reason to assume this is the last, or second last album.
I've been meaning to say - someone mentioned "muddy" production awhile back and I'm pretty sure it's just the shitty rip. It's only 160 kbps and it sounds really quiet, so hopefully the proper release will be crisper. Given how ridiculously loud WC was, I find it hard to believe that I'll have to crank WATS in order to hear it across the room (as I do with the current rip).

That explains it! I was wondering why the album seemed so quiet. It didn't even cross my mind that the rip for the leaked version might be somewhat crappy.
