The thing to remember, Dumbest Fuck, is that when I was dropping acid, you were still in diapers.

And you haven't grown since then.

I made a joking remark re your over-the-top exclamation that all the songs since Phantom Power are like children to you, and you go off the deep end as if I'd shot your puppy.

Seriously, if you can't apply some critical sense to the music you listen to, I feel sorry for you.
"This might be as good a time to ask as any...

...but are we family, or what?"

ya, well, good for you, go drop some more cid Syd...

and i was stating THAT ALL OF THEIR songs are like children to me, from 87 to present day...ALL OF THEM...

I can apply critical sense to the music...for instance, i think that the version of PRetend they play live is far superior to the album version, and that they should've put it on the album instead, BUT, it doesn't diminish my love of the song...keep cyber-stalking me though, you're great at it :thumb:!

mark Wrote:honestly? M@W had some decent songs, but most are forgettable. Tiger the Lion is awesome live. but i couldn't list all the songs off that cd if i tried.

i have not played IVL all the way through since the day after it came out. Darkest One is the only decent track on there, imho.

IBE? summer is killing us, kills me. josephine is the track that i listen to the most.

dunno... to each his own.

I, too, find this statement hard to believe. You can make the arguement that their "newer stuff" isn't as good as their "older stuff," and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. But to deny the brilliance of so many songs such as "Lake Fever," "The Completists," "Toronto #4," "Good Life," "The Dire Wolf," "Nashville," "You're Everywhere" seems a little close-minded to me.

I never said that i didn't like Lake Fever and Completists. they are good tracks. toronto #4, good life and dire wolf are all songs that i don't like.

Nashville is a good tune live.

i just love how people think that you aren't a "real fan" if you don't like everything that the band does.

not being a "real" fan is really upsetting me. i wonder if there is a support group i could join.

yeah I got that too when I said I didnt like a song....Long Train Running
I think that’s what brings us all together anyway is the variety in the songs. Lords knows there are 11 albums of songs to choose from.

Let me know when you find that group

It probably wasn't because you disliked the song, but rather that you butchered the name of it...sorry, couldn't resist.
yeah ballgame. you suck.

hahaah

I still really like the albums mentioned, even after their honeymoon periods- M@W (not so much the second half), IVL, IBE but I wouldn't call someone who doesn't like one of them a non-fan, that is f'ing ridiculous.

personally, they've been my favourite band since Road Apples and I've loved every album, but I honestly do not want to hear music from Fully Completely or earlier albums anymore - it's over and done with.

I guess that's my pet peeve- I can't stand people cheering for NOLIS and such at concerts the past few years; we've all heard it, let them play there new stuff for god's sake - there is a ton of amazing material!! kinda a different rant there, but anyways that's what i think.. you don't have to love everything all the time to be a big fan....
yes, long-train-runnign sucks ...

Their old stuff is great, their new stuff is great. I love their new stuff but I still like hearing NOIS live and I cheer for it. I do not cheer only for NOIS though. I cheer for every song. I think I know the fans you are speaking of though. When seeing Gord solo in Charlottetown, there was a big mob scene when he played "Pascal's Submarine" because that is the only song most of the people at the concert heard since it was on the radio and all. Sometimes the fans just don't get it but it's no big deal. Whether someone likes one Hip song or a hundred Hip songs, they are still a fan! Big Grin
The Darkest Canuck Wrote:thank you, that's exactly the point i was trying to make...gotta give em a chance, hell, an infinite amount of chances, to grow on you, because 1 by 1, every single song of theirs WILL.

Dude, come on, that's ridiculous. Some songs just don't grow on some people for whatever reason. You make it sound like liking the hip is some absolute religion or something where you have to like every single song and if you don't you have to damn well listen to it until you do. Seriously, chill out. Go partake in what your signature suggests, and come back with a little less indignation. I like a lot of their new material, but I'm not going to go attacking other people on here if they don't.
i didn't like INOIB, Summer's Killing Us, Evelyn and a couple others for the longest time, but they've grown on me recently, so i stand by statement...

Lately, Mean Streak has been kicking my ass, and it hasn't before.
Same with Throwing Off Glass.

And Bob Seger's version of "If I Were A Carpenter".
the list could go on.
good music is timeless! i never really stopped listening to the hip since 89 but around M@W i sort of lost interest, not because i wasnt a hip fan! my younger brothers fault for turning me on to snoop! only in the last 6 months have i gotten in to IVL & IBE. to me i thought the sound had somehow changed but i have grown to love both these albums front to back like the early stuff! same with W.C.my first few listens a few songs i wasnt so fussy about and now 50 listens later they are the ones im listening to the most(last night, pretend, family band).bottom line this album like all other hip albums....KICKS ASS!
BIGVDOGG Wrote:snoop

good to know i'm not the only Doggfather fan at the base! :thumb:
