I'd like to quote myself from the "In View" thread, just because I like wallowing in my rightness.

Quote:Very interesting tracklist. This album is gonna be great. I can tell right now. Mark my words!

and...

Quote:[In View is] certainly enjoyable. Lets check back into this thread after the album is out and and see where our collective heads are at.

I was right. All doubters wrong. Where's my cookie?
I can't say enough! This is incredible!

Such a different sound yet maybe the best yet?!

Rink, Oceans are unreal. I've only previewed the others so that I don't totally spoil Tuesday.

This album sounds great. I think not only will us Hip fans rave about it (well we already are) but people less inclined to the Hip will also love it due the new sounds, such as the pianos etc
Is anybody else listening to this and thinking about how it could actually work in the U.S.?

As a side note, The Kids Don't Get It is maybe the craziest i've ever heard Gord non-live, I don't see how anyone can not love it.
I refuse to listen to more than I've already heard (except Family Band. I heard the rant on a bootleg, and I HAD to listen to it.)

I love it.

Every song I heard.

I shall now proclaim that Yer Not The Ocean is my favourite so far.
Well, being south of the border and knowing I won't be able to have the actual cd in hand on the 17th, there was no question I was going to listen to it today when I could. And midway through my 2nd listen I can officially say I love it. I think my favorite is The Drop-Off (which was also my favorite amongst the ones I heard live in June), but World Container is right up there. It's odd to hear keyboards in so many Hip songs, but I like it. Nice to hear them trying some different things.

Bravo! :thumb:
update:::: Just listened to the whole thing. Amazing. Save a couple of odd ones at first that I'll probably have to give a couple of listens to...but yah. Best since PP.

Come on...
Best album since IBE!
hahaha Sean. Good to hear from ya again. Crazy concert in Charlottetown. Sorry man....I like M@W, IVL and IBE...but this far surpasses them.
Are you kidding me???

That is 100%, without a doubt their best album in over a decade as far as I'm concerned...and that's saying a lot because I really love Phantom Power.

There is so much beauty in that album, it oozes with emotion. It really is a refreshing change...I dare you to tell me that you don't like that album....and if you are brave enough to say that, then there is simply no pleasing you.

I can't believe how soulful and heartfelt Gord's lyrics are on some of those songs...and the heavier songs give him a chance to showcase the diversity and range of his power registers.

Ocean is a killer track to start this album off with.

Fly really reminds me of a slower version of Puttin' Down...I really like this song.

And the final cut, World Container, is simply stunning, I'm not sure if it's REM's Daydreamer that is my memory in overdrive but this definitely does remind me of something, I'll figure it out soon enough and get back to you...I really can't get enough of this song.

If I feel this good about this album after listening to it once streamed over the internet I can't wait to see how I feel about it after 20 listens in my car.

Unbelievable boys....unbelievable.
Is it just me, but when I listen to the first 5 secinds of Fly it reminds me of Puttin' Down.....anyone else??
Sorry Goulet, We thought the same thing about Puttin Down at about the same time, You got it in a minute before me. As soon as I heard it, I thought the same thing
Yeah, wow, gotta say it again this album is blowing me away. It sounds like Music@Work fused with Fully Completely or Road Apples, with some songs like Kids just out of left-field and totally awesome.

Ocean is just a fantastically catchy song. I heard it once at Fort York then I listened to the album once through and I was singing it all day. Two listens and it's stuck in my head... unbelievable.
I really like this new album.
I think I just wet my pants .... I knew this album was going to be kick ass but this is just unreal!!I've never had an experience like this while listening to a Hip record on first listen. Gords voice is incredible, every song rocks...I'm speechless. Fucking Brilliant... thanks Mav!!

This definitely answers the big Bob Rock questions. You doubters had better apologize!! He has helped the Hip make an amazing record. This is the right record at the right time...this is the record the boys needed to make.

I'm going in for round two..... Hail to the best band in the world.
If I weren't an atheist, this would have been a religious experience. It's like "The Hip Go Pop", which is pretty much the best idea I've heard all year. I dig.
