Avery should have received a misconduct, plain and simple. He was clearly inciting. If he'd tried that with someone like Ron Hextall, he'd have been out for the rest of the playoffs.

Avery is a good player. I wish he wasn't such a jackass and a punk, though. If the NHL didn't have such crappy officiating and rule changes, the actions of Avery would have resulted in him being knocked out of the game via vicious cross check or spear. But, alas, defenseman aren't allowed to even breathe on players in front anymore, which allows for rats to stand in front at all times without harm. Unfortunately, players can't police themselves anymore. Seriously, I mean, seriously, Avery, by all rights, should have been pummeled by a Devils player for his actions. Yes, Hextall would have tried to injury Avery, but, with today's rules, Hextall would have also found himself probably suspended for the playoffs. Brodeur could have whacked Avery in the face, which Avery deserved, but it doesn't do NJ much good for their best player to risk a suspension. Thus, I have to watch Avery act like a clown and the NHL prevents any retribution. Yep, this new NHL is so awesome. Confusedcratch:

BTW, that tripping call on the Bruins player in the second game of the series, in overtime, was a horrible call.
I don't know if tonight's coaches corner was scripted or Don Cherry is just that clueless, but he talked about Marc Savard loving his stick and wanting to stroke it, then he told kids to love their stick like that, and to bring it home to their bedrooms and love it. Ron McLean ended the segment by saying he would "be going to bed with his Sher-wood tonight for sure"
I don't think I can say anything good about Don Cherry, Ron Maclean, Kelly Hrudey, PJ Stock, or any of the other CBC playoff hockey crew. Any night now, Ron and Kelly are gonna kiss each other, for real.
I'll watch CBC over TSN any fucking day....that PP camera alone on TSN is enough to turn me off..

but on to better news....Dave Nonis fired!!!!!!! LOVE IT
The only thing worse than Ottawa's on-ice performance this series is their pre-game ceremonies:

j-monster Wrote:Gotta hand it to Boston... imagine your home playoff game going up against Sawx-Yankees, and thus having so many Hab fans in your home rink. OK, not the worst thing in the world, but it sucks all the same. But they pull it off in OT, and now the Habs have a series on their hands

Well, they already had a series on their hands. Game 1 looked like the Bruins were going to get creamed, but they've put together a good game plan to neutralize the Habs PP and their top scorers and they're playing their best hockey.

Still, it's gonna be Habs in 5, I think.

Fair enough comment. And I agree with you about Habs in 5... which scares me, for some inexplicable reason...
that pre game stuff in ottawa was priceless. i couldn`t stop laughing as it was happening  they deserve to be swept on that alone

Avery is a jerk and a tool, and if (when?) another player says the hell with it and beats the crap out of him, I'll be one of the first to stand up and cheer. Having said that, damn is he effective at what he does. Check out these stats:

Quote:However he plays, it's clear that he's hugely important to the Rangers. The Star-Ledger noted on Monday that since acquiring him last season in a trade with the Kings, the Rangers are 50-20-16 with Avery in the lineup and 9-13-3 in the 25 games he's missed.

Just curious about what our resident Ranger fan thinks about Avery...

Holy crap, were they serious? That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen!

Sad thing is, I know the guy that runs the in-game entertainment stuff for the Senators, the pregame ceremonies and stuff. Seeing that joke of a promo makes me wonder, was he drunk, high, or both when he thought that would be a good idea?

Maybe the Sens' strategy was that the Penguins would be so doubled over in laughter seeing that ridiculous stunt that they wouldn't be ready to play and the Sens would thus get the edge.

What a joke the Sens are turning into!

I was waiting for him to close with "THIS. IS. OTTAWA.", but alas, I was disappointed. If they were going to do it, they might as well have gone all out.

What I want to know is how the players kept a straight face when that guy walked by them in the locker room!! I thought Commodore was for sure gonna punch him in the face!
How about Bryan Murray after the game?!?

If someone ever questions the heart of Daniel Alfredsson, I'm going to approach them in an unkind manner.

Wow.

I'm guessing John Paddock has a pretty big grin on his face these days.

And John Muckler, too! Big Grin
If I was the captain of that team I would have tried everything to stop that charade from happening, that was a joke. Not that it really matters now, Ottawa are toast, I wonder who their goalie will be next year? Its like a soap opera with that team, almost as bad as Toronto.

Montreal better win tonight or I wont be able to sleep.. GO HABS GO!!
