Charles Wrote:grace too:
when he sings "he says i'm tragically hip" (in the live versions)

and when Paul sings "therell be no knock on the door"
:thumb:

Everything Paul sings through his teeth is gold. I could listen to him sing the phone book:

"Ayyynnnnndeeersssssssooooonnnnn, Ayyyyynnnn...."
"No dress rehersal, this is our life." Ahead

"I had this dream, where I relished...." Nautical

"5:55 he come walkin in the front door smilin." I'll believe in You

"If and when you get into that end zone, act as if you'd been there, 1000 times before." - The BEST song on IBE!!!! Heaven is a Better Place

"September off......" Dire Wolf; as a teacher, the thought of September off is always amusing.

All sweet. But my all time fav:

"You're all alone, and the dummies might be right" Music@Work. Who hasn't felt like this some time????? The video is perfect; excellent Willy Loman style slam on the corporate world. "Star beyond the chart" is pretty cool too!!

i got one for ya, from the first hip concert in chicago at the cabaret metro during blow at high dough - "down at the speedway, same steve larmer thing"[/quote]
I totally, totally agree that Paul's singing is gold.

Some of my personal favs of Paul's: Background singing during Another Midnight, and background singing of When the Weight Comes Down.
NICE!!!! Love Steve Larmer!!
no struggle town, no bemused trudeau......
....... in moon glow.... BAHM BAHM BE BAH BAH BAHM...

inch an hour's still the most rockin' tune the hip have ever put out.
When Sinclair and Paul SCREAM: "HOW LONG!!!" in "Scathed" the RA outtake.

Jesus, it still scares me... why so angry boys?!
It Can't be Nashville Every Night : with it's la la oh oh ohs,
whoa-ohs and yeahs.
la las,

You're Everywhere: The last time Gord says 'when I reel my Irish in'

Titanic Terrarium: Growin up in a Biosphere, no respect for bad wheather. Man I'm tellin ya when he sings wheather I get goose bumps every time

Locked: Conqustador I think..

Cordelia: Die in your dreams

Flamenco: You said No one drags me anywhere
Yes for necro!

-I remember a couple of months ago, which is when I got into bootlegs, I heard the 1996-07-20 - Boulder, Colorado concert. At the beginning of Grace, Too, Gord sings

He'd sit on the edge of his motel bed
And stare into his shoes
Where he'd see tiny pools of light

I was amazed when a long time after, I was looking at the lyrics to Phantom Power, and that turned into part of the first verse of Vapour Trails. I was stunned that I didn't notice that before. Now, every time I listen to Vapour Trails, I think of Grace, Too. Moving.

-On Makeshift We Are, the lines Gord sings faster than all the others. It's as if (as someone already said), he didn't care how many syllables there were, he'd make it work, and he did. Especially the third one here, though "Occurring to each other under the setup of the stars"

Lead never leaves your system no matter who you are

'Weaklings Make Trouble' you played on your guitar

Occurring to each other under the setup of the stars

We imagine us here and here we are

Through half-squinted eyes becoming a mirage

-Also on Makeshift, the line "You're as quiet as a fish, I only sing for the whole sea"

-The section in Lake Fever where Paul and Gord exchange lines. It's beautiful, but it really should be a woman singing Paul's lines. It still works, though. Lake Fever actually is probably their most beautiful song in my opinion.

-The way Gord sings "Then there's music that can take you awaaaaaaaaay"

- "A poet in the service" on Ultra Mundane.

- "We live to survive our paradoxes" on Springtime In Vienna

- "We're an endless emergency without end" - Emergency. (Note, I actually use EndlessEmergency as my name on some sites, when my usual username, Naga, is taken.)

- "But your finger starts to wiggle, and landscapes emerge" - Emergency and Impossibilium.

Impossibilium is a seriously underrated song IMO. And is it true that Emergency has never been played live?
here's a couple

Gems - "I'm kinda dumb .....and so are you"

Copenhagen - "as loyal as a fruit fly, you'll mutter to yourself........"

Pigeon Camera - the end - "with no contingency plan"

Impossibilium---"Can you spare some change dear, we've only got three hundred feet to go"

Fight - "Do you think I bow out cause I think you're right?
Or cause I don't wanna fight?"
Wow. Too many to list but let's start with the Live8 version of Poets when Gord replaces:

Don't tell me how your universe was altered
when you find out how the writers get paid

with:

Don't tell me how your universe was altered
when you find out how Brad Pitt gets laid

Given the ridiculous brouhaha around the Jennifer-Brad-Angelina mess, it was timely and perfect. So much time and energy focused on such an insignificant thing. It fits perfectly with the theme of the song - which is brilliant from start to finish.
two of my favs....

Sliver Jet...

it's quiet again
when a car like Big Ben
it's radio dopplerin'
...'and for all you Gregory Peck fans...

and from The Bastard

And all of this augers well
even though it’s presaging pell-mell.
too many to count, ill put some special ones in

Fiddlers Green - the whole "Nothing's changed" up until the harmonics part

"Let me ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut" from Locked

Yawning or Snarling - That opening bass line that sounds so dark and shit... wow

"would you like it inside a barrell, plunging over the falls" from the slow version of daredevil

"and then the dream ends, when the phone rings" - that whole build up from Nautical sounds awesome

the stop start dynamics in IOD

"that night in Toronto" from Bobcaygeon

the chorus in Escape is at hand

"Dark side of a drop of rain" from MAW

the "if new orleans is beat, where's that leave you and me" line, espeicially how timely it was

and finally, everything in good night Josephine up until the buildup
some of the ones mentioned plus

"and your finger starts to wiggle, and landscpaes emerge" part from Emergency
